How much hp can a Stock automatic awd transmission handle?

I'm just wondering what a awd stock transmission will take? I searched and couldn't find anything and was wondering if anybody could help me out. With a good tune my car will put down 550+ awhp. Car is a 1995 talon tsi awd with a built 6 bolt with the stock 1995 talon tsi awd trans. The tranny has 75,000 miles. I plan to have a tranny built for next summer. Thanks!

In theory it could handle that, it might not though. You will break it real fast launching it improperly and slamming gears, but just putting power thru it isn't going to kill it as fast.

About 400 hp.And 10's in the quarter.Could be some freaks of nature.But it has been done.

Depends here on the condition of the trans, and the purpose dont think there is a good number, things will eventually break depending on how you use it. You can always have it built for your purpose for the car and have some ideas. A stock transmission with that much hp maybe not long.

i just hate seeing the car sit there as i am currently saving up for one haha. the motor alone has 12k so its prob best for it to sit there

Running full line pressure, good fluid, and a larger cooler will help it survive longer. Like others said it just depends on the condition that it is currently in. If it was abused (fluid and filter never changed) then it won't last long and the clutches are probably on their last leg. Mileage doesn't really matter.

the list whats done to it is posted above. the kid tht had it before me took good care of his cars.

So the only thing done to the trans is a larger cooler? I'd look into getting a shift kit, reprogrammed tcu or a shift box or blue wire mod. Also a different torque converter and flex plate.

My auto was abused before I got her and I missed a fluid change I destroyed everything in my Trans. She's got about 350awhp. Now that it's rebuilt with blue wire mod, kiggly gears, higher stall and valve body mods she handles great!
My Trans also had 208k tuned in 23psi when she blew

I was told to get a ipt trans there a performance trans and look like they can handle a lot and cost around $2700

I got my Trans done for half of that! IPT is over priced and have ripped of many people. Call English, they will tell you all about IPT. I had a friend of a friend ripped off by IPT. Please do some research!

Were do you guys recommend having a automatic transmission built? Looking fora stage 4 prob with a good tune car will make around 600 hp
