Bought mine for $400 off Craigslist - the tires were shot, the front engine mount needed replaced, the parking brakes were inoperative, and the drivers side door was red instead of green like the rest of the car. However, the engine ran strong, trans shifted well, and over all the car was in pretty good condition (except for those fogged up, can't see anything headlights!).

Currently it is my daily driver and I am working on turning it into a rallycross car as well as a daily driver.

$1800 for my 95 RS with 58,200 miles on it. Had one small dent in front right fender that I popped out in the dealership parking lot. Still runs like new now.

$8000 for my 97 GSX with 66.5k miles on it a couple months ago. It left me kind of broke though haha. I'm a college student not to mention an art major.. wonder if I'll ever have the time or the money to mod it. But looking at the prices people have paid, I could possibly make a little bit of profit if I sold it...?

Sounds like a good deal to me! I should have went for an RS, dont think I'll have the money any time soon to work on mine. :beatentodeath:

well i bought my 97 gst with around 118k miles on it for a whooping 6500usd... it ran good for a week or so, then developed a rod knock and at the two week marker... almost exactly, it blew a chunk outta piston #1... maryland has lemon laws so i could have sued the SOB who sold me the car and gotten all his med school money but oh well.

That sucks!
You dont really think you could have got "all his med school money" do you?
1. Lemon Law is for a new car, you bought a over 100K USED car from a private party.
2. If I am wrong and Maryland has some bad ass law that says nothing can go wrong with a old junker anyone sells then you would never get more then the cost of the car.
3. It costs alot more then 6500 to go to 1/2 a year of med school.

Look at it as a positive, now you can do a 6 bolt swap and build it before you put it in.
I bought a 97 Talon w/52K on it and it crankwalked 900 miles later :rocks:

$2800 96 eagle talon bone ass stock and in perfect condition until a rear end accident. 140k highway miles 5sp. i could of done better though. I was new and in need of getting rid of an 89 crown vic LOL

$3,350 for 1990 GST off eBay.

Through phone conversations and emails, seller assured car was "near perfect." Flew 850 miles to seller's location and paid cash and picked up the car making my total much higher--but I thought I was getting a great deal.

Car was advertised as 98,000 miles, newly rebuilt engine with all the newest and best parts including greddy turbo and intercooler, etc. (None of this was true--had original stock turbo and an old intercooler with broken and cracked piping.)

I didn't check everything when I went to pick it up and didn't notice it didn't have any of the parts advertised and even grudginly overlooked that it actually had 141,000 miles on it. Was anxious to get on the road back home. Car ran terrible, but seller said it just needed simple adjustments. Also wouldn't shift into 2nd. He told me it was an easy, cheap fix. Also said the tires had about "half life left." Learned the CC didn't work, but was told , you guessed it.

100 miles after leaving his house, the tread on the right front tire shredded off on the interstate at 65 mph. The nut holding the spare was frozen and I could not remove it. Was stuck in the middle of nowhere (at night) and had to call for a tow to nearest town where I spent the night and bought 4 new tires.

Continued trip next day and discovered car was leaking oil like crazy...also leaking power steering fluid, and brake fluid like crazy. Car ran terrible. Bottomed out at every little bump or patch of uneven pavement.

At night when it got cold, found out the the heater didn't work.

Made it back home and took it in for safety and emissions--of course it didn't pass until I replaced the brake master cylinder, power steering hoses, tie rods, exhaust system (had no catalytic converter), oil leak, replacement of broken intercooler with a stock one from a parts car, put in the missing motor mount...in the meantime was told by a mechanic there's a good chance there's a serious engine problem... Told the mechanic the seller put new Crane cams in it, but he said he had the valve cover off and they were definitely stock cams.

Long story short, spent over $3,500 (not including the $3,350 purchase price) to get it to where it could pass safety and emissions, but still have the engine, transmission, and suspension to work on before car is drivable).

But, it's not all bad, the interior is in fair condition. (It'd be nice if the radio worked though.)

After spending more than $7K for a '90 GST that is in below average condition and needs a lot more work just to be drivable, my enthusiasm for owning a 1g DSM has waned. My good and trusting nature and belief in the golden rule led me to learning a hard lesson!

I attempted to "work this out" with the seller, but got nowhere as he's 850 miles away and won't respond.

Congratulations to those of you who got great deals. You should really appreciate it when you get an honest deal.

I paid $10,600 for my 1997 GS-T with 63,000 miles on her (I've owned my car for about a year now). I know it was a lot of money, but it has seriously low milage and it's in perfect condition. I had to drive 60 miles to find the car, but was well worth it. It also doesn't hurt that RRE is really close to my house :thumb:

I payed $1,200 for my 93 Eclipse NT. It had a little bit of rust on the rear passenger fender and clutch was a little slippy. it had a great interior.

What I have replaced:
Radiator
Engine
ECU
Clutch

I paid 2800 this past week for a 95 Eagle Talon TSI FWD. 130,000 on chassis, 70,000 on new motor. Good condition. Automatic though :(

I Paid $4700 for my 95 GSX, the car had just had the motor rebuilt (still had the receipts) new clutch, all new belts (including timing). I have had it for a week now and have already done all the free mods listed on this site :D

But of course, nothings perfect. It already looks like I'll need to replace the rod bearings. The engine has no leaks, but uses quite a bit of oil, I had my friend follow me and he saw no smoke???? I want to know how 1 quart of oil just disappears in a week  So right now wanna replace the rod bearings ASAP before I end up needing a new crank.

Moral of the story, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

90 Tsi Awd Rebuilt motor around 30k on that and the tranny is newer don't know mileage. I payed about 2500 it had some boost leaks along with other stupid issues. Body is in good shape came with some kuhmo tires on it. I've been pissed off with it plenty, but for 2,500 what do you expect. Obviously it didn't come with the fmic and stuff. It was stock except for 2.5 dp and 3. catback.

I payed $1200 dollars for my 91 GSX auto. The car was in several pieces and I've spend a lot of time putting it back together.

Pretty good deal considering the guy I bought it from gave me every single part to put the car back together (he is still giving me parts 5 months later).

Overall in good shape, but rough around all edges like a lot of 1g turbo cars. The previous owners decided to make it a "drag car" so they stripped the interior and took off misc. little parts for no reason at all.

I've got the interior back together and the wiring harness ran. All I have to do is drop in the motor and find the other 50 problems wrong with the car and I'll be ready to go!
