How many tipes of transfer cases are there really?

Ok so what are my chances of getting luckey and having the correct transfer case sitting around for my new tranney. The tranney is a 90, the old transfer case is a 92 I think, and I have a 96 sitting aournd.

COunt the splines on the transfer case and on the output shaft of the trans and see if they match. 90's are different, as are 97's, auto's ect...

It's not "tipes," it is types.
And it's not "tranney," it's tranny.


As for transfer case, count the splines.
