Im a noob by far. i joined about 2 years ago when i didnt know SHIT about cars. now i am going to automotive tech school and know a fair amount of shit. i have been around the auto forums for a while now. i am a oldschool DSM FAN! all the way i wanna sell my car for a 1G dsm. im a broke college student that needs a reliable ride.

how many times do you spend with out ur dsm? how much does it break down?

i have heard from many ppl that they break down alot

*edit* im asking about the turbo AWD owners here

Well, ive had mine for a year, and Its never left me stranded, onyl problems ive ever had, are ones Ive created.

a dsm is a Very reliable car.
But once you start changing thigs, and modifying things.

expect things to break

their great cars if taken care of and everything done that should be, but really...people say they are not reliable bc they drive hondas and stuff.....but just think about it....100hp v 300hp which u think will be more reliable....

I'm on my 2nd 1G, first one was bone stock and went rougly 190,XXX without needing any "major" repairs. The one I have now has the stage 1 mods and half of the stage 2. Generally speaking the more you mod the more you break. That being said, a modded DSM with an attentive and competent owner/driver is a reliable platform. If you slap on parts and drive the shit out of it, it will break more than if you carefully plan your upgrade path. Support and tune each modification properly and you should enjoy many years of driving.

Never, with the mods I have it has never broken down... I've had it for 2 years now and the only time it broke down was when a freak accident happened... a pulley siezed up and the A/C belt got caught in the timing belt and turned my head to shit... down for a month... other than that the only down time is when I'm installing upgrades, which isn't really downtime:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
