I know the dsm awd have rear lsd's, and i cant find anywhere that says they have front or center ones. does a 1995 awd tsi with the rear lsd also have a front and center lsd? also im new and very ambitious.

All awd cars 90-99 have a viscous limited slip center differential. None of them have a limited slip front diff.

one front diff besides the rear one is form companies like team RIP that offer the rip grip to the front diff form your tranny, keep in mind that you would need to have the gears machined for the rip grip before install

Those are not the greatest thing on earth really, but you can get a front Qualfie LSD for it if you have a money tree.

I'm also pretty sure there was a factory front LSD unit put in some EVOs, but that was before they were sold in the US.

I don't know what I can add to the above without ruining a stunningly beautiful post. I only wish that I'd seen the unedited version.

Actually, USDM Evos have had front helicals for a while. My 2008 X, for example, came with a front helical, active center, and AYC. But we digress....

As expected, Bryan has it correct. Everyone gets a (crappy) VC on the center and some get a (crappy) VC on the rear. All DSMs came with open fronts.

Well I suppose I should have been more clear, I was referring to W5M33 cars.

Yeah, and I knew that you knew (given your other posts). Plus, the Evo X is a whole different creature from the previous generations, so I'd forgive anyone who didn't know about the front diff on an X. But I worry that people aren't aware of the differences, so I point them out every now and then. For example, how many people know that the bolt-holes on the front Brembos from an X are slightly larger than the bolt-holes on previous-gen Brembos? The little differences between Xs and other USDM Evos can trip you up if you're not careful.

So this is a little off topic, but where did you and Defiant snap your avatar photos? I noticed they are in the same location, but he was from California, and you're from Iowa.

Is that where you guys have your Wisemen meetings?

It would be foolish to assume plug-n-play compatibility on different generations and models. But then again is along the same line of discovering what drop fits and what does not.

like some toyota parts on mitsu, or the 1.8 VW turbo head gasket is the same as the 2.0 4g63 gasket.

Its either a big waste of time to find out it doesn't fit, or an awesome discovery worth sharing all over the internet!.

It's a photochop made by one of the other "staff"; my car, Cinder, has never been to California.

As to knowing what can be swapped, it's really a mess, but quite useful. For example, my X now has the front rotors from a '94 3000GT VR4; perfect for 15" rally wheels.
