I have a 1992 TSi Auto. I'm already mid-process of a complete five speed conversion of the motor (Cams, Injectors, Turbo, ECU) and have a parts car just sitting in my drive way with everything that I need for it.

I am more and more seriously considering doing a 5-speed transmission swap with it now. The 5 speed in my parts car is in great shape (it actually drove home pretty well on the way back from the junk yard) and would probibly get sent to TRE before I slapped it in.

Now please, don't give me the "it's not worth it" b.s. that I read when I searched through the site because I know it's going to be a lot of work- because I already spent 1000 on a parts car (running 1991 Laser RS Turbo, blown rings (at least) on pistons 1 and 4, cracked head) so price isn't an object. It's just a matter of time.

I thought about doing this once. You're right - it's going to take A LOT OF WORK. However, I think you have the best scenario to tackle it because you have a complete donor car to take everything off of. If I was to do it, I would want a manual donor car so that I could remove and label, and see everything for myself, where it came from and where to reinstall it. You have this, so at least you're a step in the right direction.

LOL- yeah

I've already read through the walkthrough- took the important parts and actually wrote them up on the whiteboard that I have in my garage.... I'm probibly going to tackle that later this fall or winter....

Probibly not for a few months down the road at any rate.... I gotta talk to the guys at TRE to see what they would charge me for a rebuild
