I am just wondering how many horses you 420A 2g eclipse/talon people are pushing with mods.
I can't find a GSX or GST in my area so I am considering going RS or GS . :(
 
Do yourself a favor and wait to find what you want. Good things come to those who wait.
 
yeah you could just buy a gst/gsx from out of town and either ship it or drive it home. That or wait.

You will thanks yourself for driving/flying further away from home to get the GSX every time you boost in the winter! :dsm: :laugh:

i think im pushing 1 or 2 horses now, i pulled on a stallion bad the other day, barely a race. :laugh: :rolleyes:

on a serious not, you can achieve just as much with a 420a as you can witha 4g63, it just depends on how deep your pockets are.
 
thanks for your input everyone - I think I will wait until I can find a GSX or TSI AWD because I probably will be disappointed with anything less LOL

remember a GST or GSX will be alot higher in insurance because of the snail.........

To me modding FWD is a waste of time - Just my opinion LOL :D

Then again there are tons of TSI's for sale around here - I just did a search on auto trader LOL

FWD modding is a waste of time??? *sigh* i better go tell the guys at hahn running the 10 second FWD rs to stop wasting there time, and tell all the 4g FWD boys who run times close to that to stop also.

its not a waste of time, you just dont get as good a launch. your faster from a roll. but this topic is old and beaten, search theres a whole thread on it.
 
Yea, just wait for an F/I Eclipse. I was impatient when looking for a car and settled for a GS. I ended up getting rid of it after a month and a half for a GS-T. Still wish I would've waited another week, If I had I'd have a GSX.

Hp all depends on what your mods are. but basically an all motor setup wont yeild you much more then a stock turbo dsm setup. but, for $600 you can be hitting 210hp on a 420a(while your spraying tho). in all truth i wish i would have gotten a turbo. i even tried to get my parents to let me sell mine and get a turbo one that was around here. but they are too expensive for me around here. GS-T's with semi low milage go for ^$13000. a 97 GSX with 108k miles was going for $13k. a 98 GS-T with 55k miles was going for $16k :barf: but i was naive, and didnt know the differences in the models, so i ended up getting a GS. but because of the high price of turbos around here, im sticking with modding my 420a. whatever im happy with it, its a nice car, and although it may be a little slower then the turbo guys,it will keep up with alot of cars on the road.

Hey I only say its a waste of time because I read in one of the posts that FWD becomes too hard to drive in the winter when you have more than 300hp. If this is incorrect let me know - then maybe my opinion on FWD will change - I have nothing against FWD, in fact all of the cars I have are FWD - I just need something I can drive in the winter too, so let me know if the person who told me the thing about the winter is wrong.

NOTE: Not trying to start a FWD vs. AWD war - There are already too many posts about this

FWD hard to drive in the winter with over 300hp??? thats insane, mine is hard to drive in the winter with 140hp. my car absolutley sucks in the winter, and it almost killed me on many occasions. sometimes it just decides to slide off the road for no reason. it really sucks that car has made me hate winter for ever.

hehehe my plymouth reliant is 90hp and it even has some trouble in the winter.

Why would you wanna drive a 300hp car in the snow?? I mean if I had a dsm or vette, cobra or anything with that kind of power I would have it sit in the garage and drive my truck in the winter. Granted with blizzaks, winter/low boost tune an awd dsm is pretty darn good in the snow, but with lowered ground clearenc it cant through much snow(4-6inches and up). If I had an awd I would park it in the garge when it snowed and drive the truck, cause it is better suited. As far as awd vs fwd dont choose cause what other people say choose what you want. good luck

Just get a GS they are cheaper you can throw a Turbo kit in it, Some Juice maybe a LSD and a couple of other supporting mods and still not pay as much as you would with a GSX or GST in the end..Insurence=Alot Plus you would already have more power then a GST or GSX..Dont get me wrong I love them all but for my Everyday Driver I have a GS I only pay 120 a month for full coverage.....They wanted 350 amonth for my GST I was like #### that

On a hot summer day....... No :(
Can't even go on the highway anymore with it - I took it a few weeks ago then parked it on my driveway. The next morning there was a huge pool of oil under it OMG
This car is getting too old.....
 
I'm not sure what I prefer for type of car but I can tell you that there are so many more parts for the turbo models that sometimes I wish I had one. Right now I'm building for boost. I pay 99 dollars a month in insurance which is nice. So far I've got aarp head studs. je pistons (tri-face teflon coated), eagle rods, high tension rings, teflon coated bearings, honed block, port and polished head, port and polished intake maniflod, 60mm throttle body, all new gaskets, battery relocated to trunk, cold air intake w' bypass, greddy header, hi-flow cat., apex n1 exhaust. That's my horse power side of it. If i would have had the turbo model you can see the money that could have been saved. I still don't have a turbo. I'll post how much more power I'm producing now than stock. It still probably won't be more than stock turbo.
 
I'm paying 330 a month for my GS-T. I'm under my parent's insurance, also. When they thought I was driving the GS I was paying 180 a month. I guess they figured it out and doubled my rate.
