How far with mods can I go for a daily driver?

Hey. I am running a 1990 GSX and I plan to follow the DSMtuners upgrade path to the tooth. However I have a question about just how far I can go? This car will be my daily driver and it will be that for a long time. I am unable to purchase a car to make my daily driver and have this as a project car. However I do want to mod this vehicle as far as I can go without REALLY endangering my daily driver.

I completely realize that mods do somewhat decrease reliability because there is more of a chance for something to go wrong. I am alright with this to some extent but I don’t want my car breaking down on me every week. What I am trying to reach is modding my car as far as I can while keeping it reliable enough to be my daily driver. I also don’t want to only get say 10mpg for my car or anything like that. At the bottom I will post what it is that I already have on the vehicle. (bought it with these earlier this week! Yahh. First DSM!)

I had planned to do all of the First Level mods and maybe some of the second, however I was not sure exactly what to do. So I would appreciate you guys telling me exactly how far I can go. And if you are going to say that I thought right about doing all of the First Level mods and some of the second, what are those some second level mods that I can do? I am asking for power as well as suspension mods.

Currently Running With:

Buschur stage 3 shortblock, JE pistons, Eagle rods and ARP fasteners throughout including head studs, Prothane motor mounts

SAFC, MMCD Datalogger on a Palm VX, 3" Buschur Exhaust with Apex N1 can and 2.5" downpipe

Thanks a lot and I would appreciate any help and advice!

Well since you have a built motor already there's really only the tranny to worry about if you beat on it. You can upgrade turbo's to pretty much whatever you want. Even if you get bigger injectors your MPG won't go down too severly.

So I can even complete ALL of the Stage 2 mods and be okay if I do the tranny as far as reliability and reasonable gas milage goes!? If so thats great!

ya man your motor is already nicely built so it can handle the abuse that you want to throw at it. Your gas mileage will be just fine as long as you dont boost everywhere.

And if you want the car to be a daily driver, build it to handle a lot of boost, but then during the daytime when your just driving to work or something keep the boost down or dont boost at all, so you dont put that extra stress on your engine.
