Mine sure doesn't.:notgood:

My O2 reads full rich ALL the time (brand new sensor). My SAFC knock number is around 20 at idle (its relative, I don't care how accurate people think it is or isn't). And everything under the hood is scorching hot (like unreasonably hot) after a 3 minute drive, dispite the fact that my stock temp gauge is reading the same it reads on a 15* winter day. Oh yea, and I don't dare to boost for fear that the stock sidemount might start to melt.

Not to mention the fact that my a/c doesn't work and I have leather seats.

Wow I can't wait for a real hot day (its only like 90* now). I pity you people that live in the southwest.:tease:

ROFL ROFL

Mine USED to do that last summer (knock on LOOOOOTS of wood, lets not start it again).

Ever time I would stop to go into a store really quick and then come out and start it hot, it would add about 500rpm to the idle. All the way up to 3000rpm if I had enough stops to make. I have no idea what stopped it, one day it just didn't do it anymore.

wtf is wrong with these cars?

There's a reason why we don't hook this feature up on a 2G.

Back to the topic...well, h2o is boiling but my temps are all good.:thumb:

Neither of you two have a FMIC?

I don't. I can only imagine the overheating problems that would cause. My stock sidemount shouldn't cause any of my problems because it doesn't ever see boost if its over 80* outside.

Actually, you could be surprised....way back when I had my first DSM, that happened to me until I got a FMIC, then it went away. My theory is that with not enough time to "rest," the stocker is completely heatsoaked....which causes this.

Well, let's see.....

Mine tends to run a few degrees warmer - not good.
But it does hit operating temps quicker - huge benefit.
I knock much less (if any), but the butt dyno is sensing less power on a hot day.

Lately, I have been reading intake temps at the TB of 18-22* F. over ambient, so on a 90* day, my car does seem a little more sluggish than it would on a 50* day.

Other than that, everything else functions normally and feels normal.

I don't see how my temp gauge can be reading the exact same, but any metal part under the hood will burn the skin right off my hand. Not to mention both coolant hoses are scorching hot. I've run black cars at work sitting in the sun with the a/c on full blast for literally hours, those engine bays still aren't as hot as mine is just driving a few blocks off boost with no a/c. I have the back of my hood raised ghetto style too. I think I need a real water temp gauge.

Just as a random rant.... what idiot at Mitsu came up with the idea of running that coolant cross over pipe right under the exhaust manifold? Were they TRYING to completely heat soak the coolant before it even makes it back to the block? Does anyone have datalogs or something else showing coolant temp before and after wrapping/coating that pipe?

v2ner, good idea. I might switch to straight water and water wetter for the summer. You do have at least some water wetter in there right? I don't think straight water is safe as far as corrosion (sp?) goes... but I could be wrong...

Straight water, yes. It has it's ups and downs. Try removing the weather strip if you haven't. The strip is the black rubbery thing by the windshield wipers that is right under the hood. Once your fan kicks, you can literally feel all that heat being blown out. :thumb:

Water Injection my friend....Getting a kit primarily for this reason..and more timing and boost, but you know.

I dont even take my car out on those 90+days I cant stand it. Im hard wiring my ac fan and have already made a radiator sprayer out of my stock fuel pump and old 420A injectors. Water is best for heat disapation.

I have had my kit half installed for the past 6 months..... One of these days, I will finish installing it.

I did this last year. I installed two SPALs and hard wired them together. When they kick on, it does cool much faster than before.

Good info on the fans. Also get that WI finished up and let me know how it works for you in every aspect...tuning cooling etc... What kit did you go with?

I have a Cooling Mist kit. 100 psi pump and one injector, activated by a simple Hobbs switch. All I have left to do it wiring for the pump and activation switch. I'll probably finish it this weekend or next week sometime.

Nice, I was going to go wiht that kit, but between cooling mist and DevilsOwn....DevilsOwn just gave me the better deal

150 PSI shurflo pump a 3GPH and 5GPH nozzle and a 4qt tank + plus all the other stuff for just over 200. From cooling mist that would have been atleast 350+ .

Let me know how it works out for you!-Matt

I removed the weather stripe AND jacked up the hood in the back. To no avail.

How do you guys hardwire the fans? Just wire them into the existing factory sensor or wire them up so that you can turn them on with the flip of a switch, or what? I'll be installing a big fmic soon with a slim-line and I was wondering the best way to go about wiring it up.

I was in your neck of the woods last weekend.
Nice town!
But the 1hr 45min drive there was killer on my idle at stop lights.
Other than that, a non working A/C (w/Black leather), side mount heatsoak (now its at 12psi) and sluggish in low gears and RPMS.
