Hi,

can anyone who drives a 2G with a FP EVOIII tell me,
what it feels like when the turbo hits full boost?
Does it throw you into the seat?
Does it feel like the T25? or
does it builds up boost more linear? so there is no "hoooly shh....." when hitting full boost?

I'm not sure about getting EVOIII or FP BIG28

I used the search button
could not find anything.

i do not personally have a evo3 in my car, but compared to a t28, it will definately out perform it. i think you will find the t28 will be maxed out quite quickly

Ok ride in a friends evo3 all the time. Tuned at 23 lbs and its a 97 gst. Supp mods, 5-spd. He spins all the way through first, 2nd, and chirps 3rd hard. THe boost hits hard, real hard, only thing restriciting him is he goes from 3" dp to 2" exhaust ROFL Sounds like a jet. Anyways, very good turbo upgrade. In AWD its more of a smoother pull, well in my car it was.

i have the FPbig 28.. its a good turbo.. pretty low key.. good mild upgrade.. with fuel and tuning i think you will enjoy it.... although if i were to do it again i would go a little bigger i think

on my buddies evo16g, when he hit 20psi it threw you back in your seat. his was unported with the stock 2g manifold. definate "hoooooooly shiiiiiiiiit" status.

that made me want one. before riding in his car, i was contemplating a t28 killer whatever for ease of install cause at the time i didnt know how easy a 2g install kit and MHI turbo swap was. going for a ride in his car made me realize i need that turbo, so i bought one, i had it ported with a 34mm flapper. my boost(i was also at 20psi) came on more linear. i also slapped on a sbr cast manny to match the turbo portwork, and later a FMIC, while hitting 20psi by 3400, boost was still gradual, not a "holy shit" kinda feel. though enough to break traction(####ing fwd) in 3rd trying to do 3rd gear dsmlink runs.

id go with a evo16g if you want a great street turbo. and this way, once you get into a MHI turbo, doing a MHI to any other turbo(say, 50trim) is a quick swap, since, not only will all oil and coolant lines be ready, but youll know what youre doing better. the evo16g can be made to spull just as fast as a smaller turbo(like mine ported and matched sbr manny) but still flows very well up top, and shines with a FMIC.

I think I need more boost on my car because I don't even feel it anymore. I remember when I first got the car it felt like my stomach was being smushed against the back seat when I hit boost. Now when I hit boost I still hear it and I can see that I am gaining speed fast but I don't get that feeling in my stomach anymore :(

so why does it sometimes builds up boost gradual and sometimes
people say they have a boost that hits hardwitha "hoooooooly shiiiiiiiiit" status?

is it only because the supporting mods?

Thanks

I think that how hard it hits depends on how much boost you're running, the state of tune and the amount of parts that contribute the effectiveness of the turbo (i.e. exhaust). I don't have an EVO III, but I do run a Big 16G at 24-25 psi daily on pump gas and strong timing. When it hits, it hits like a ton of bricks. There's no gradual squeeze into the seat. Instead, it's something that snaps your neck back in first and second gear with AWD. I'm a big fan of the 16G variants so I would definitely go EVO III if I were to upgrade.

Hope tht helps,

Andy

My turbo isn't FP, but it's an EVO III. I have full supporting mods running 22psi on pump gas. It hits really hard, it makes my old car that had the T25 seem like a RS. It is an amazing turbo for its size, I reccomend it, plus there isn't that much more lag than the T25 either, but it'll rip til redline. I can smoke my dad's 99 stock T/A(LS1 of course) no problem :dsm: . As far as comparing it to the T28, I've never had the chance.

I agree. I tried running 650cc injectors with only MAFT for compensation on my EVO III and had no power until about 3600rpms. When the 20psi hit I lost traction at all 4 corners because it was such a sudden punch. I thew 550s back in there and now it starts pulling a little over 2k rpms. and pulls all the way to 7500rpms.

I have a MHI Evo III 16G with all supporting mods, etc. All i can say is that at 19 PSI, it threw me back to the seat and pulled like a raped ape. Definitely a "holy sh!t" kinda feel. The spool of the turbo isnt quite as fast as the t25 but it spools pretty quick for an upgraded turbo. Usually it starts to spool at around 2800 RPM's and then hits full boost at about 3300 or so..thats when youll feel a huge ass difference from a t25 to an Evo III. Unlike the T-too small, this turbo actually holds boost till redline and keeps pulling and pulling. my Evo316G turbo is unported with standard wastegate.

Definitely go with an Evo III 16G. I dont see why you want to spend close to $1000 on a t-28. That turbo is not even as good as the Evo III. I think the T28 is such a worthless turbo for the money, no offense to those that have it. I mean Evo III costs half of that, and has more potential..will definitely bring you closer to 350 WHP than the T28.

if you think an evo16g throws you in the seat go for a ride in an fp3065 powered car or bigger.

im putting the FP evo16g on my winter beater/daily driver if that tells you anything.. its a really good turbo for daily driving but if you plan on going to the strip. id probably go bigger.. most average people if they are good drivers and decent tuners only run 12s on an evo16g. ive seen some people only run 13s with them because they dont know what they are doing.

the 16g in an AWD dont expect much on the highway or from a roll. my first talon i thought was fast. when the evo16g came out i got that right away and i thought it was fast for about 2 weeks then it just felt stock to me.

after you drive in a 600+hp dsm on the street... the 16gs feel like nothing LOL :)

i have an evo 3 with supporting mods running 20 psi and it pulls hard but you'll always want more power, thats why i am going with a 50 trim

I have a Buschur Big 16g ported/clipped set on 16psi when on pump gas and it hits pretty damn hard impressed me especially when I do a nasty awd launch. I went to the track once and cranked it up to 21 psi and damn did it hit boost hard the little 16g impresses me for what mods I have done.

I just put on an EVO111 GT from turbochargers.com and this turbo is capable of 400hp at the wheels. It is fully ported and comes with the upgraded 34 mm wastgate flapper. When running the same boost as the t25 at the stock 14 psi it was already a huge difference. when i have it run about 8 psi it fels like the t25 at 14psi
