Well i just bought a 91 eclipse. Which i later found out was really a gs and the guy slapped a turbo on it. When i slam on it in first gear sometimes it builds no boost and it feels like hitting a wall and the CEL comes on. But it doesnt always do that. It also idles rought it jumps from 800 to 1200. Can someone please help. Car is all stock.

You need to stop slamming the gas until you get your problems fixed. Driving a broken car hard isn't going to fix it any faster.

A: Do a boost leak test. This NEEDS to be done.

B: What fuel mods does it have? ECU tuning? Chip? SAFC?

C: Anything else about this car we should know about?

Well the car is all stock. It was swapped from non turbo to turbo dont know if that has anything to do with it. The boost gauge only reads 8psi when it does hit boost. Could it be when the guy put the turbo on he didnt put the turbo cams. Will that have anything to do with it. Yes im not pushing it anymore after the first time it did it.

No, I'm saying that if the guy just PUT a turbo on it and didn't touch anything else, THAT'S where your problem is. Even though the engines are more or less the same, you can't just "slap a turbo" on it. There are other things to adjust and change over to make a smooth transition.

Read the tech article on turbocharging a NT 4g63 and the proper way to switch it over to a turbo motor.

Yes i had searched on that before and i looked for the things and it looked like he did a decent job. The only thing i didnt check were the cams. Im not sure if that would cause this problem. Its only in first gear when it does this it doesnt do it in other gears. I do know it has the n/t pistons. And its only some times theres other times when it runs perfectly fine but im scared of driving it know cause i dont wanna lose a motor.

ok so i was checking the car today to see if the guy had done the swap right. But i dont know if he put in a turbo ecu or not. How would i be able to tell if the ecu if from a turbo car or not? Ive read how to make a n/t to turbo but how would i check if its done right what should i look for? anyone ### help.

I finally fixed the problem:D. i just changed the ecu to another one that i had laying around from a 91 gst. And it worked great. It fixed all the problems. Guess the guy before me had left the n/t ecu. But thanks for the help.
