I have a 1990 talon tsi awd shell and I bought a 6 bolt jdm 91-94 engine, I called slowboy racing and they said that all I ned to do is wire in my coilpack and cam sensor into my 1990 wiring harness, I have a 91-94 wiring harness cut at the dash and one other spot. I have both CPU's, buthow do I wire in my coilpack and cam sensor?

If the harness isn't hard and brittle I'd just wire the plug connectors to the existing harness. The changes may be more than just the coil and CAS. Depending on your engine the ISC, TPS, PTM, and coil all have different connectors between 90 and later. 99% of the wires go to the same places. I think it's just the tach sender being wired to the PTM rather than the sender on the coil that has to be moved. At the ECU end you should be able to use either ECU but if you use the later ECU you most likely will have to release and swap pins 6 and 14.

Look at the '90 wiring stuff and conversion http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/index.shtml

so I need to cut the plugs on the wiring harness and plug the wires into the engine connectors, I am new to this and don't know what ISC TPS and PTM are nor can I tell exactly which plugs go to which on the engine there ais a triangle shaped plug and that seems to match a rectangular one on the harness but the harness has 4 wire plugs and the engine three wire plugs, Desperate for help here I wrecked my other Talon and I really need to get this car running.

ISC = Idle Speed Control motor
TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
PTM = Power Transistor Module

The link I gave you points out some of the differences.
On most of the connectors I mentioned, the '90 harness has a plug or socket where wires from the sensor or motor plug into. The '91+ parts have a socket on them so you need to extend with wires a bit and change to the matching connector. The wire colors should be pretty much the same. The coil and PTM require a little changing since you moving the tach wire from the four pin old connector to the new PTM connector.

Here is the '91 diagram. http://www.taboospeedshop.com/wiring.htm
Be aware that in that diagram the connector shown isn't correct if you count the pins. The wire colors and pin numbers shown should be right.

Between those two links you should be able to figure out what goes where. If your looking for somebody to tell you step by step, I can't help you. Perhaps somebody else can. In the mean time print out the wiring diagrams, look at the pictures under the various parts of the first link I gave you and it should begin to make sense.

Do you have the engine in the car yet?

Steve

yeah the engine is in the car, both the wiring harness in the car and the one that came the engine are off, the engine is not bolted down nor is anything attatched to It yet, It can be easily lifted out.

I found out how to change the PTM and Coilpack so they would fit my 90 wiring harness but now I have extra plugs in some spots and not enough in another, That link only showed me how to convert the coilpack and PTM, what about everything else? I really need help with this, I've been trying for 3 Mo. to figure this s*** out, and I'm completly lost. please list any suggestions.
