How do i tell if i have arp head bolts, cause they are not stock looking.

I pulled my valve cover off and i was just checking on my internals and i found allen key type bolts for my head studs. They are not nuts, they are 6 sided hex/allen key type bolts.

Are these arp, or some cheap knock off?

Those are stock, and use a 10mm allen driver.

ARP's will use a 14mm 12 point socket.

the 10mm hex are from 1g 6-bolts... anything 7-bolt will have 12mm, 12-point bolts as far as OEM is concerned.

For some reason I thought ARP used standard sockets. It seemed that 1/2 inch 12 points fit great for the lower end stuff (better than 13mm) and 9/16 (think that was the one) fit great for the head studs.

They are the EXCELLENT 1G Bolts - ARP Studs are a GLORIFIED PITA to work with.

Well of course you're a Genius, you're a WISEMAN so that goes without saying...

Certainly one can make a case for Studs with a 2G where the Stock Bolts are NOT reusable by most popular opinions - But ANY Studs DO make it more difficult to Install or Remove a Head - In fairness I like to point that out when discussing them.
