I bought a 2.4L eclipse gs 2004 and I’m wondering what the first step should be to making more power.

You are more than welcome to this forum but this one is focused on the 90-99 cars and mostly the 4g63 turbo cars.

There are some similarities between the 3g motor and the 4g63 but they are few.
Adding more power isn't easy or cheap.

Evo swap it. Save your pennies and just do the whole monty.

AWD swapping a 3G is as straightforward as AWD swapping a 2G DSM. I won't say "easy" but it's straightforward.

The Evo block and engine setup bolts right in, as does the transmission and mounts. No fabrication there. The Evo harness will work, however so will the OEM harness and even the stock 3G ECU can be flashed with Tephramods to make it essentially an Evo ECU.

Making a 3G 4G63T/AWD car is on my bucket list one day. I know a guy in South Florida that's done like 3-4 of them so he had it down to a science.

Also, turboing the 3G 4G64 is as easy as turboing the 2G 4G64 in the Spyders. Honestly, it's probably even easier because the 3G ECU can just be flashed to accept the turbo/etc stuff. Use OEM Evo 8 turbo stuff. But like Paul above me said, sign up on Club3G or whatever the other 3G forums are and research, research, research.
