All boost leak tester threads are combined here.

i read somewhere maybe the Vfaq about making or buying a boost leak tester of some sort but never found it.... the reason being my acceleration seems slower than normal and all ive done to my stock car so far is take out the air box put on a K&N filter and cut the dump tube i have my boost guage sitting in a box not hooked up yet. and since those 2 mods it when i go wot on the car i can hear the turbo spool up and it sounds nice but i can also hear a sound as my rpm increases the SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH sound does too. the sound comes from the same area as the BOV i think maybe i got a #@%#@%#@%#@% stock bov and it cant handle over 11-13 psi??? Then i shift and it makes the nice BOV sound WHOOOOSHHHH... but my car seems to be a little slower.. any ideas before i go check every tube clamp and tube???? OMG

ok i just did the test and the blow off valve hissis air into the dump tube and the intake pipe. should i buy a new bov asap or u think it can hang in a while without damaging anything?

If you have the stock bov, its meant to leak. But, yes, buy a new one anyway.

where can i find how to use the S-afc on the net
also on the net, where can i find how to make my own boost leak tester oh yea and its not just how to use it but how to read it to? :talon: :talon: OMG OMG www.helpme.com

Hey everyone. im looking for a boost leak tester. Is there a place you can buy one, or order one from. I have really done much research yet, but if anyone has any idea where to buy, or how to make would be really appreciated.
thanks ahead of time
Jerry

i made one of those boost leak testers and i only read 4-6 psi on the gauge, i tried a 5 gallon air tank, and got 4-6 psi then i went to a gas station and got the same thing i checked everything seems to be tight any suggestions. also what do u do with the mbc hoses should i just put a nail in each one or what, and should you plug the bov or just leave it open.

When I check for boost leaks I don't change anything. I leave the mbc hoses and the bov alone. For all you know one of them could be a major leak. Don't worry about what your gauge reads at this point, find all of the leaks and fix them. I wouldn't use gas station air because you have no idea what the pressure is. Try to find a source of air with and adjustable regulator, I usually set mine at 35 psi.

before i make this i wanna know if this boost leak tester is for the 14b turbo or the t-25. If it is for the 14b what do i need to make for the t-25? thanks

How did you improve on it? Looks the same as all the other one's I've seen, mine included.

Man, mine looks totally different from yours.....

danny_l_2005 - The one in Vfaq will fit the T25 and the 14B.....

the only part i dont know how to do is make the piece to put the fitting on for air, i'll probably be using a bike pump to do mine so i would have to drill a hole and then how would i put the fitting in it? would i just use silicone or something to make it stay?

You can buy fitting at most hardware stores for about .50. Just drill a hole a little too small and forcefully thread it in. Mine is on tight as hell....

I used a valve stem replacement for a tire. Drilled a hole just large enough to force it in and then used some super glue to seal it up just in case.

"Snap-In tubeless tire valves" got that off the label, I bought mine at Pepboy. The bottom is made of rubber as well so you can snap it in easily, I sealed both sides with RTV.
