I'm going to get a trans, clutch and flywheel for 400$ from a guy off Craigslist this weekend and I know it's from a 95 gst and I have a 98. I know people say that it will fit mine but any advice on how to tell it is actually a gst trans or any advice on how to inspect condition of the 3 parts

F5m33 is for gst turbo transmission
F5m31 is for non turbo fwd transmission
Check the code on the transmission before you buy. Non turbo trans will mess up alot faster than turbo. But will fit the same.

F5MC1 is also non turbo transmission. Only code for turbo transmission is F5M33 on either coupe or spyder models.

W5M33-2-NPZT 95-96 Eclipse AWD 5spd

W5M33-2-MUZT 97-99 Eclipse AWD 5spd turbo

Can I put an n/a transmission into my manual 98 gst as long as it's from a 95-99? Also what are the differences between the n/a and turbo tranny's for the eclipses?

I have a 4g64 spyder 5spd transmission on my 4g63T right now. Its my DD and i love it better then my original transmission. These have shorter shifts. I weight them both & the spyder 4g64 was lighter by 2lbs or so without GEAR OIL.
However i did need 4g64 spyder CV Axles, but everything else...starter,speed sensor, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, clutch fork, clutch pivot ball, clutch release bearing, clutch cylinder, transmission mounts all 3, front wheel bearings, axle nuts are the sam youll just need 2.4 5spd spyder cv axles....these were lighter too
But its up to you if you choose to pick this route
and before you ask 4g63t clutch kits will work.

I have ACT 2100 street kit :hellyeah: pulling hard every day

Alright cool. Thank you very much. That's all I needed to know. That way I have another option of finding a tranny incase I can't find a 4g63t trans. I probably need a whole new trans if mine will only go into 1st 3rd and 5th gear, right? It does not go into reverse or 4th or 2nd. There is nothing obstructing it from shifting because I disconnected the linkage and tried putting it through the gears and it will not go through those bottom gears.

I forgot to mention the reverse light switch fits from 4g64 trans too and it has to have that washer or it will be too low/tight for shifts your having might wanna check that before you decide this swap but still its up to you.

Thank you so much for the informational reply
I was trying to help. I didn't think about the spyder. Im human too. The other nt cars my answer would suffice. No way no how. No.

So what do you think the issue is? Maybe I can take apart the tranny and replace broken parts? Because it doesn't go into 2nd 4th or reverse. It's odd. It's like you hit a wall when you try to go into those gears. And it's not linkage or anything because I disconnected it and just shifted it by hand and still nothing.

There are too many moving parts to diagnose over the internet. The only common thing between those three gears is the selector. If something is in the way it would affect those gears. No way to know without opening it up.
Alright thanks buddy. Is there internal parts for that tranny readily available to buy online? Incase something is broken that I can replace. I'm gunna pull it tomorrow so I'll keep you in the loop in case you don't mind answering questions I may have once I start taking it apart
