All boost gauge [gage, guage] installation and troubleshooting questions are combined here.

need help with 2 gauges. Does anyone have a diagram of where to install and easiest way
or if no diagram can you explain?
thanx

What do the instructions that came with the gauge say?

dont know if i put this in the correct place so i posted in another area. sorry. i just bought both an autometer boost guage and autometer air/fuel guage. just wanted to now if anyone can point me to a site or someplace that will give installation tips such as what to tap into and what wires to tap into to have the guages light when i turn my lights on. sites with pictures would def be a plus thanks.

Well i can tell you where where I tapped my boost gauge and what hose i T'd off. I tapped my cig. light for the power so when i turn my headlights on it goes on. I T'd off this line

for the boost gauge. Here's the instructions on how to do the boost gauge (it's farely easy) http://home.earthlink.net/~toddhonea/BoostGage/u_boostgage_default.htm and for A/F gauge try http://www.myzero.com/gauges/afgauge.html
Search around on VFAQ.com , they have a lot of usefull info and how to's.
I tried using the single pod from autometer but i wanted different vacum hose and the fittings didn't fit so i made my own gauge holder.
Have fun.

Has anyone seen the guage mount that goes in the dash you can put two guages on the left and right side of steering wheel.Think it was called a gauge surround mount. if so where can I get that at?

im sure u can find that at a bunch of different places, but i know that extreme motorsports sells it.

I have read tons of posts but could not find any info on how to install it on 1g's. I bought the guage and went to true value and bought a plastic tee. I think I'm ready but don't know were to find pics that show were to tap in. Now before you scream I'm talking about pics for 1g not 2g. I see a lot of 2g pics but no 1g pics. Is the Fpr line in the same spot as is it on the 2g vs the 1g?

thanks Derek

Wrap the threads in teflon tape, screw the pieces together and wrap the connection with duct tape, that should keep it tight.

I just put in an after market boost guage in my 96 eclipse GS-T. When the car is at idle, the guage reads -12psi. I was told that it should always be between -16 and -20 on "any and all" turbo cars. If I give the car gas, it boost's fine, and reads normal, and correctly. As soon as I left off the gas, it shoots down to -20, then climbs up to -12 and sits there. So is there a vacume leak, or could it actualy read -12???

That's engine vacuum, grasshopper. It's what all piston engines do when not under WOT (which will try to make 0 vac, but you're lucky to get -3), and what supercharged engines do when not under boost. It's also the cause of pumping loss, one of the many inefficiencies of the piston engine.
How good a gauge did you get, and who gave you the -20 number?
You should pick up a vacuum test gauge and read through the instructions. With only a little practice, a vacuum gauge can tell you more about an engine's health than ten other gauges.

well i bought a faze boost guage. really sweet and nice quality. i searched around and found the RRE install page for a 1g and it said to simply get a t-fitting and tap it into the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator(doubles also cuz if the guage isn't reading then you know somethings not right with your fpr too). sounded pretty straight forward but the tubing and connectors for the faze boost guage the hose is a bit smaller than the vacuum line for the fpr. actually i think i could wedge it inside the fpr vacuum line to give you an idea. anyways, besides the fact that i can't find a t-fitting with the two same size one smaller things, is there a way i can use a different place and tap into the intake manifold. the connector and vacuum line for the brake booster would screw in perfect but it said not to do that cuz it'll read wrong and mess stuff up. i really need any options on this cuz my stock guage is horribly innacurate and reads about 8psi. thanks for any help

I have a Faze too. I bought a couple different T's and found that my gauge tubing fit inside of one of the ends quite snuggly. I just gorrilla glued it in there.

hey thanks. the tubing for the faze kinks up easy but it seems to work good for me. now i just gotta figure out why my car is only pushing 5 psi
