How do i get rid of my stock air box?

I have a 94 Eclipse and it has a Weapon R intake pipe and foam air filter. I want to get a paper filter and get rid of the stock air box. Mostly for better air flow. I am not sure how to get around the MAF. Since it is part of the air box, i am not sure what to do. I know some companies make a air filter that the MAF will fit into but i do not feel like paying 60 bucks for a paper filter. Any sugjestions?

The car will not run without the MAF so there is not getting around it. Is the foam filter inside the factory canister?

Yeah i believe the air filter is stock, if not its pretty close. I know i gota keep the MAF but i also know that people have clamp on paper filters and have taken out the air box... im just not sure how. Thanks for your help

There are 3 bolts around the air box connecting it to the car. Take those three bolts out, then unsnap the 3 retaining springs from the MAS that connects it to the airbox. Remove the air box(you may want to remove the entire intake pipe when doing this, its up to you. Then keep the filter over the MAS and take those snap springs and clamp them down on the edge of the filter. You weaponR intake needs to connect to the MAS outlet anyway, because its still the outlet of the stock air box, so fitment should not be a problem.

Yeah i thought of that, i will do that untill i get some extra time on my hands. Ill try to make the same thing out of aluminum so it looks nice. Thanks!
