How Can I Prevent The Rear View Mirror From Falling?

Hello everyone, I installed a sub and everything is good so far except when I turn up the music my rear view keeps going down because of the bass and vibrations. Has anyone tried putting tape around the ball thing that lets the mirror move or is there any other idea that can prevent it from falling down or moving? Its really annoying to keep having to pick it up every 2 mins

Dont turn your shit up that loud! Ive got a sub in both my cars and have never had this problem. Course I dont go blasting some dumb bass music like an a hole.. But maybe a new mirror, that hasnt had 15 years of adjusting might help..

dude Its not even that loud, even when it starts to hit slightly hard it just goes down every drum hit

Check and see if u can tighten a screw or bolt in back to hold it in place better. There should be like a set screw i would imagine around where the pivot ball for mirror is. I've also had multi sub setups in my eclipse and never had this happen.

Only suggestion Ive got man is a newer mirror. Sounds like yours is pretty worn.

theres no screw or anything, its just a ball going into the mirror housing. I do however have the mirror add on that curves back so I can see blind spots without looking over my shoulder maybe that added weight makes it fall down?

Go to walmart and pick up some epoxy for a couple of bucks. It wont ever come down again

Wow this is a new thing to us dsmers! We can rip off turbos but cant fix a dang rear view mirror. I cant even get mine off.

haha I dont want it to be permanently glued in that position, ill try using some super stick tape and taping the ball thing so it wont move. What tape is heavy duty? besides duct tape which will leave residue

yea its not falling off the windshield..the face is just going down and all I see is myself -_- and then I have to re-adjust it all the way up again

That could be it extra weight I don't know. If anything find a replacement and swap it. I will say after years of a nice stereo setup in my car, the drivers side mirror does a dance to the music . I like my music loud but only inside for me to here not outside so everyone knows I got something in the trunk. My 1 12 I have now hits pretty hard I will say. I have my turbo keychain hanging from rear view and even in full boost and radio cranked it wiggles pretty good. I would try removing the extra mirror and see if that helps. If not try to find a replacement if it's that bad.

I had the same issue. I bought an aftermarket mirror made by Pilot Automotive, it was an OEM fit and it didn't fall down anymore with loud bass.

this may sound stupid, but I just went out and super glued the ball waited 2 mins and turned up the music and it didnt fall. But whoever drives my car (which no one besides me does anyway) will have to drive to my mirror setting !

I just put mine in storage. It wont last longer than 2 hours to 3 days max. I tried every glue made for mirrors and gave up. (3m and permatex)

I dont miss it one bit.

Also think about it, the glue is meant to be broken at a certain point safety feature. If the glass fails to break, in an accident, you are looking to impale yourself. if one your jack ass friends starts dancing too much or your sub bumps really too hard... and you epoxied it on, best believe glass will shatter if its weaker than the bond between the mirror and glass.

Just a few to think about... Im sure there's more. leave it off. check local laws.

Just turn the mirror crooked so that one corner rests on the ceiling and won’t fall thats how I fixed it.

already glued the ball so it wont limp down on high bass songs no turning back now

LoL I had this same problem, I had a Razo Wide Rear view mirror addon that clips over the OEM rear view mirror, I guess with the extra weight, it would slowly vibrate downward everytime the bass would hit from my subs.

One idea a buddy of mine had was to remove the glass/mirror from the OEM to reduce the weight. Basicly take the OEM mirror off and cracking off the glass
