To live and die in L.A, California
I have an RS*R full cat exhaust system and its rediculously quite all you here is just air like a jet and then blow off, any way i have a cat and two huge foot long resinators. I no obviously pulling out the cat adds hp but if i pull out the resinators will it??? :dsm:

Isnt pulling the cat illegal in your state? It is in mine. That does add hp and makes a deep grumble but make sure you keep your car legal.

I have the AWD version or the old RS*R exhaust with a RRE modified downpipe and cat. It is very quiet. I have ran with a test pipe instead of the cat before and it sounds louder (and better IMO) that way.

I have toyed with the idea of laser cutting some flanges and then welding up "test pipes" to replace one or both of the resonators and/or maybe even the muffler just for fun. I have not done it yet though.

I am curious if anyone has an answer for you. I can say no cat sounds better to me.

Ya no cat does sound better and you can blow fireballs through it...but lots of states are getting emmisions and we need them : (

Pulling the cat is illegal in every state, it doesn't matter if you have e-checks or not, it's still illegal. I am not running a cat, but know everytime I start up my car if I am checked I will be in violation.

not running a cat is a Federal offense not a state offense. the only difference is how strict your emitions laws are from state. for instance California state regulations are stricter than federal regulations. Oregon which is where i live is just federal. which allows you to emit more pollutants. in the county i live in there is no smog check though. hehe its awesome you just go to the dmv and pay 100 dollars for a two regestration and thats it no smog check ever. anyways back to the exhaust topic. removing the cat normally only makes gains when the cat is crapped up with stuff. so really its just releasing corked up hp providing the cat is crapped up.

haven't you guys looked at your cars to see if yours is a federal car or not?
