Horrible grinding with clutch in!! mainly on start up !! pic inside!

Ok recently i have been getting this horrible grinding sound coming from the bellhousing area.
The throw out bearing is ok
The ring bearing looks fine, only that the flywheels teeth are shined up as if scraping somthing, me guessing the starter.
Took the starter out and the teeth looked good but with a little shiny scrape on all of them.

My guesses
~The rin around the flywheel is bad but unlikly because it has zero play and looks aligned all the way around. and its new "fidanza"
~ the starter isnt fully disengaging and scraping the flywheel
~ or i could have severe crank play and the flywheel seems to be hitting the starter everytime i push the clutch in. Checked the crank for play and very minimal almost nothing in and out. (pryed crank pully and flywheel wit 2 huge flat pry bars)
~ or there was a looses screw or washer that was in there ans fell out in the tranny job.
~ or both 2 and 3

Starter not disengaging correctly?

I would guess the starter as well. My car does it sometimes.

Yeah, my car did that, right before the starter failed.

OK Starter is good, got it checked. TOB looks good spins fine its greased. But i do remember the car vibrating alot right before the noise in reverse, now it has always done it due to a bad motor mount but the day before i got it changed the mount, and the shaking stopped but started again right before the noise happened. In further detail, the noise is at its peek at startup (clutch in) then when the clutch is released it stops, idles fine then i put the clutch in to put reverse and the noise starts and just gets louder as i release going back to the way it sounds when it first starts up. Even when warm i could turn it off and right back up and it will always make the noise at startup hot or cold.

Possibilities
~bearings in carnk going bad crankwalked and the play of the crank hits the starter (or some device)
~ That other bearing in the tranny, but i just get the tranny re-built by shep about 700 miles ago (anything can happen)

Well today i am going to mildly put the tranny on a couple of screws just to hold it and the starter up and get the car started with a friend of mine, and see if its still makes that noise, hopfully it wont.

Does crank walk cause grinding when clutch in?

Had my release bearing put in backwards one time.....but that was more of a grind mixed with chattering sound. If the starter doesn't fix it then maybe its that.

that happened to my friend. it was due to not torquing the bolts on the bell housing right and one eventually fell out causing all the grinding and an even bigger mess than you have now. be thankfull you took it apart when you did!

Well hopefully its that, i am putting it back together tomorow morning, hopfully i somehow fixed this problem so i can start driving it tomorow morning. God i am so missing my dsm.

So i guess it was my throw out bearing!!! it works!!!!!
