The horn does not work on my GSX, and I am trying to diagnose the problem. The relay is good, so I can only assume the horns themselves are out. I know there are two of them, one on the left and one on the right, behind the bumper; but which horn is the high tone and which is the low tone on a '90 vehicle?

To my understanding the horns are the same for both sides. The horns rust on the inside and stop the top plate from viberating after a long time. The top late viberating makes the sound of the horn. I think I still have both the left and right horns off my 90 gs-t if your looking for an oem set that works. That or you can get a 2 wireset from your local auto parts store and make a custom setup using the factory wires and locations.

Is there anything else I should check before jumping strait to the horns themselves as the problem? I can see both of them, and both seem to be in good shape; not rust or anything like that. What else could be the problem?

Take a 12 volt light bulb or a multimeter and have ignition on (engine running or not) and have someone hold the horn button down in the car and probe the 2 wires leading to the horn. If the bulb lights up or the volts show 12v then the horn is bad and all the fuses and wiring is still good. If you dont get anything from that then try testing the horn by conneting 12v directly to the 2 pins for the wires. The horn should sound. Dont hold it for to long thow because it might get hot if the horns top plate is seized.

One other thing I haven't seen but might be a culprit to no horn is the horn buttons wire. There is a screw on the under side of the back of the steering wheel that holds the button in place. Take the button off and inspect the wire that slips on the back side of the button. It might of fell off or be corroded.
