ok, ive double checked everything, as far as i know it should work, but it wont. i will tell people any info they want per request, i wont just go out and say stuff, since that didnt work for me before, so if you wanna know something specific, ask me. ok, my problem is that the car fires and stays fireing as long as i have the car cranking. its as if the only way to keep the car running is to have the car cranking, but it wont stay on. i am at a loss, all my wiring is right and all faulty parts have been replaced and now work. so my teacher is stumped too, he has went over everything, and he suggests it may be a problem with a crank angle sensor. any input would be helpful.

please, i only have a week left to work on my car before i have to take it out of the shop. i need help by tomorrow

When you turn the key from "Start" to "On" (let the key go), does spark immediately stop, even though the engine is still turning over?

As far as I understand, the ECU will not deliver any spark if the Cam Angle Sensor is bad.

Have you checked base timing to verify that it's correct?

If you pull a plug after you've been cranking it, does it have fuel on it?

when i turn the key to "start" it fires over and over again really good, then when i turn the key to "on" it just completly dies. it doesnt even want to try and stay running. yes, i have pulled the plugs after cranking and they are covered with fuel. im gonna re-check the gaps on them tomorrow to see if i ####ed up somewhere somehow. what do you mean by checking the base timing? if you mean is it in time, yes, its in time. explain what you mean, i dont get it.

If that's the problem, you can just rotate the CAS either way enough just to try and get it to run. From there you can adjust it to where it needs to be.

so what you are saying is to losten those 2 nuts holding it on and rotate it until it stays on, then tighten them up?

Yeah - first, mark it where it is now. You can have someone hold it while you crank it, if you want... have them rotate it to see if it fires up in any position.

thanks psychlow, i got my car to actually start today. tomorrow i will adjust it to idle better. so how long does it normally take for our computers to relearn everything?
