Hey Everyone,

Started doing the bodywork on my 2g Eclipse and when i got the friend end back on i got some major gap issues with the hood and bumper. The passenger side has a large gap between the hood and fender and the drivers side is fine till it gets to the end of the hood where its right up on the hood with 0 gap at all. Also have a gap between the hood and bumper. I attached some pics.

Whats your recommendation to correct these issues?

Have you tried adjusting it or this is just after slapping everything on? The fenders, hood and bumper all have room for adjustment, you have to work all 3 to get it right. Looks pretty easy to correct from the pics. Don't forget the headlights, gotta work with those too.

Looks like the hood is leaning towards the driver side.
Loose the hood hinch bolts on driver side and pull the hood towards the front, if it’s all ready to the front, then loose the passenger side and push it back., or you can even loose both sides and play with it, you will see it gets really easy when bolts are loose.

As 91TALONTSI stated before, don’t forget to put the headlights, you might end up aligning everything back again once you install the headlights.

If it doesn’t align Well, loosen the fenders and you can push it in to reduce the gap.

When there is a big gap, you have to drill new holes to reduce the gap, but in your case is not going to be necessary, you will be fine, just play with it.

Thanks for all the information and tips!

Attempted to loosen up the fender bolts this morning and my luck one of the bolts not come off, it just spins and spins, its not even 100% tight on there. So now i think i might have to get a grinder, grind the bolt off and then redial a new mounting hole and tap it out...Smh... Any ideas on how to get this bolt off?

Getting all that to line up is like black magic. I gave up and just get it “good enough”.

haha thats how i feel LOL, I tried moving the hood a bit today and there's like no adjustment at all. Im going to just try to make the gaps a lil more even and get the front bumper as close as i can. I think in the end it all comes down to patience and just taking my time. thankfully its not a daily driver and will be a weekend car so i have all the time to work on it and not worry about having to get it back to driving status daily.

So took a few mins today to just loosen up the hood and the fender that was nearly touching the hood and wow what a difference. I need to pick up some new headlights so just wanted to see how i could get them. Huge difference! Thanks for the reply fellas!
