Tilting hood with fender and headlights

I have a NX wide body with a bomex body kit and I want the whole front clip to lift froward something like this

Also how would I go about doing this if possible, Note I all ready have Lambo Doors :dsm:
 
first thing i would assume is that you need a fiberglass(maybe CF) hood, and fenders, then you'll have to figure out how to latch it..i dont know how most people latch those...and most that use them dont have working headlights..and on an eclipse i'd assume that'd be a problem since our headlights mount to the core support.... I think it'd be original(and POSSIBLY less work) to have the hood open forward(like a 'vette) or even sideways, and have it supported by pneumatic rods, instead of a prop... kind of like your hatch. :)
 
you got to post pictures.. i wanted to know what that would look like a while ago. with the bmx and nx wides.
 
It'll take a mechanism that'll slide the assembly forward before raising so the rear edges of the fenders will clear the doors.
I hope this is only for show- unlike a car where it's for working on the motor (Jaguar XK-E, Spitfire, GT-6 [or even the bugeye Sprites where we'd leave the original hinges un-bolted, and use the front latch as a hinge to swing the assembly up]) and it gives you full access, on a DSM it's more in the way than anything and the nature of the DSM frame -which include the front inner fenders- keeps you from lifting them along with the hood assembly.
I think you'll have to start with a complete fender/hood assembly, along with integrating the fender and headlights. It'll be neither cheap nor easy.
 
I may be wrong, but I don't think that idea is streetable. Reason #1: you'll need to extend your headlight wiring almost 2 feet to do that, and I don't think you'd want to make sure your wires didn't kink up or drag EVERY time you had to lift the hood. Reason #2: do you really want to put it all back to stock or fix and replace all of the body panels if some nimrod pulls out in front of you? Not to mention both lights? Great for a trailer/show queen though. I think it would look sick at night shows with the lights illuminating the ground. :rocks:
 
i think autoloc has a universal kit to do that. hood like a vette that is. and i agree id like to do something like that but as one said we have a disadvantage if we do get smahsed into. there is more than enough to have to fix if that happens. good luck on what u find and keep me posted.
 
get a fiberglass hood, front bumper and fenders, and slap them together, and make a hinge up front.

extend the wiring for the headlights shouldnt take more than 10 minutes, 4 wires each. and since theyre almost at the apex of the joint, they shouldnt move far, maybe a foot or so.

i dont see why that wouldnt be streetable. but then again i dont see the benefits from a huge hood in the way of the front of the car, i mean, you dont work on a dsm from the sides, you stand in front of it most the time. but then again, its a show only mod, and how many show cars actually do things in the engine bay and have to wrench on their cars daily?
