Honda Help, anyone??

So i got my DD its a 96 civic, bone stock, everything works great, but tonight when i turned on my head lights i noticed the gauges dont light up?? everything else works, signals, parking lights, everything, just not the lights for the gauges them selves. I checked the bulbs there fine. any suggestions beside the dimmer switch.

Probably a stupid question but you didn't say it in your post... Did you check the fuse?

Edit:actually just looking, the fuse box is under the steering column that has the instrument lights fuse.

Im not sure. In my civic I had a similar problem. I was driving around a few days and it started working again. Weird.
When you take the cluster out isn't their little fuses in back of the cluster itself? I can't remember, I sold my civic ej1 a while ago.

My old '94 Accord had that slight problem.. I used to just slap the top of the dashboard where the cluster is and voila! Back on!

Haha, I feel ya on this. In my '95 Accord, the speedometer likes to not work sometimes/most of the time. Usually if you slap the top of the dashboard it starts working again. Lately, this method has not been very efficient though.

The fuse is in the fuse box under the dash, its good, the bulbs are good, there are no fuses on the back of the cluster either im stumped no where to go, noting is damaged, I tryed the slapping it thing no luck, my old one the whole cluster went out but it was the relay was loose this one is good, Will any of my other lights be out if its the dimmer?? maybe the dimmer did go out i gotta find one and try it i guess.

You can try another cluster??? See if that one works then your old one is defective.

check the fuse linkages under the hood they are in the fuse box under the hood but they look like a 2 inch long metal bar... those blew out on my 96 civic all the time when I had it...

Here is a solution! How about just get some reverse indiglo gauges!

Wire into acc or stereo.. Good to GO!

gotta find a dimmer to try it, im pretty sure it not the cluster itself because all the links for the circuit are fine non are burnt or anything, checked all the fuses under the hood, there all good, Im trying to get my hands on a dimmer

You could look on the bright side, you get to drive the GSX a little bit. Unless its under construction

Its parked at a friends house, because i dont have a license anymore, i only go take it around the block every, couple days plus i lost the papers for it and its on non-op, im gonna have to sale it since im gonna be moving, ill get another one though.
