My output shaft seal was leaking so I bought the seal to replace it. I looked it up on the forum and a lot of people said its much easier to remove the transmission to replace the seal. I'm lazy so I said the hell with that and replaced it without pulling the trans. I do electrical work so I had a steel fish tape laying around. You can pick these up at Depot, Harbor Freight and the like. I cut off a piece about 7-8 inches long and bent a hook on the end of it that was small enough to hook behind the seal.
Then I put the other end into the jaws of a small pair of vise grips. Took me about 2 minutes to bend the hook to the size I needed and about 15 seconds of pulling to yank it out. Tapped the new one in with a socket and an extention. You can buy the fish tapes as short as 15-25 ft and they also are good for fishing wire through the firewall and other tight areas. Can't upload a photo from my phone, but I will add one later.
