hi new to the dsm world here, so long story short bought a wrecked 98 eclipse gs 5 speed manual, after 3 weeks the car is almost done and now im doing the output shaft seals, problem is the parts store keeps selling me the wrong kind!!! its annoying!:banghead: so my question is where the hell do i get the right ones!?!? ive looked high and low and most places dont even know what im talking about, anyone have specific parts numbers or something like that? it would be greatly appreciated!

I can't offer you much advise on this but I have a trans in the garage with the same problem. I couldnt find anywhere to order parts so I just found a new trans. I'll be watching this thread hopefully someone has some advise.

having the same problem. I'm thinking there's maybe 2 versions of these seals? maybe a change on mitsubishi's end mid year or something cuz i have a 98 RS and can't find a seal that fits yet. I ordered from Jacks transmission and the seals they sent me measure 1.47 for the shaft to go through. My shafts measure 1.575 though! no way the seal can stretch .1" I beat the piss out of one of them trying to get it on and its now ruined and never even made it close. I wrote to Jacks and they SWEAR they sent the right seals. then they wrote back and said "OH WAIT... you don't have a factory turbo? we only sell parts for turbos" even though the listing specifically says "NON TURBO" on their site! looking at national they reference a timken 710259 seal (couldnt find the 3459 as stated above) but the timken seal states its for a 1.457" shaft so I'm pretty sure that's the same type I already got that didn't fit. the S-2349 from driveworks however states its for a 1.575" shaft! hooray! gotta check the bore and if it matches i'll order them and report back on how it went.

I ended up dropping the trans off at a shop and having it fixed... $100 later and I didn't have to order 15 different seals to find the right one.
