Does anyone know of a shop that has a bolt on hx-40 turbine housing, in stock? I have been told by the turbo trader and tim's turbo's that they will be available in a couple day's for a month.

I've been told the same thing by both shops recently. Supposedly there is a new casting coming out which they said may be more expensive than prior.

Does anyone have any word on the housings? I have called both timsturbo's and the turbotrader and I have not gotten a call back:(

Yes $250 ish. I had no idea they were cast out of unobtanium. Maybe i'll just take a garrett bolt on housing to the local turbo shop and get it machined for a holset wheel.
UnobtaniumLOL
$250 isn't bad, i was told the price was going to substancially increase.

why don't you guys go t3 v-band, it looks sick :hellyeah:

I don't really want to spend over $1,000 to plumb a $500 turbo setup. That and i am shooting for about 450 horsepower. The bolton housing spools several hundred rps sooner and won't be a restriction at that power level. If i would have known about the hassle involved i would have gone with a t3 garrett or bw setup. That and after i break this transmission i'm probably going to go 16g and actually drive my car, instead of driving my truck to the parts store. I don't know about everyone else but i have 2 spare transmissions and it's still hard to keep up.

I don't really see why a 16G would be easier on transmissions. How hard they hit and the torque they make they should be harder on transmissions I would think.

The 35r that was on the car before murdered transmissions. At least with a 16g i can run around at 300hp and not have everything break(constantly). If i run a big turbo at that power level it's not very fun because of the lag followed by no payoff. I build my own transmissions and i do a good job. There just isn't much you can do for them at 450+ lb/ft of torque. 300 is pretty manageable though.

I paid $215 for my T3 BEP v-band housing, but that was a year ago. It is now listed as $330-$380 possibly more when it comes back in stock.

But a 16G can do 450+ lbs of torque easily. If you run a holset at 400hp you'll for sure have less torque than a 16G at 400hp.

What i'm saying about the 16g is that after this setup breaks i'm going to put in on and not push it so i can drive my car for at least a month without it breaking. 300 horsepower is a fun car, not superfast, but fun. I love working on cars, but it gets old fixing the same issues all the time. I was going to run the holset to about 450ish so my transmission can live for a while. After that i just want to take a break from the power chase and enjoy my car.
