Greetings:
I came into an excellent condition HKS electronic Boost Controller, and want to know if I must use the mini vacuum filters? AND, would really appreciate some advice as to plumbing the stepping motor into my existing vacuum routings. I have a heavily modded 98 GSX, and have only used MBC's, until now. There are 2, 6mm and 1, 4mm nipples, and then 1 that's plugged. I did download the owners manual, and took a look at there recommended install procedure. Well, I'm internally gated, and have just the basic vacuum routing to make sure the car runs...

I did take a look at an HKS EVC IV install on a 97 GSX, but it was crude, and I couldn't follow along. If anybody can help, I would appreciate it!!

About the two small filters, of course it is ideal if you use them but it works without them. the filters are to avoid some object get into the stepping motor.
About the plumbing, connect the 4mm nipple (the right one as you see the HKS logo from the top) to the hose between the fuel pressure regulator and the intake manifold with a filter if possible. and the 6mm nipple (the middle one) to the compressor housing or somewhere closer with a filter if possible. the 6mm nipple (the left one) to the wastegate actuator without a filter.

DSMPT:
Thank you for the quick reply, and yes...im going to get 3 new filters. (2) 6mm's, and (1) 4mm..
Since they weren't included with the unit I got, I hope the solenoid/motor isn't all crusted up... I havn't received the unit yet, it should be here soon... I will definitely post back, and let ya'll know the status of the install/functionality.

Thanks again! :D

The connections are clearly documented in the install manual. Facing the motor the leftmost is a vacuum source post-throttle body (typically off the intake manifold) where you would use a smaller filter. The middle goes to a vacuum/boost source near the compressor output, and this uses the larger filter. The right port connects to your wastegate with no filter. This is for a single port wastegate.

Source: I just walked in my garage and looked at my connections as I use an EVC IV.

could I use the middle port at the "P" outlet on the throttle body. I don't have any vacuum/pressure fitting's anywhere, except stock locations. I have my MBC running to the "P" outlet and it works... I have plans to get a few _barbs_ fitted to my upper intercooler plumbing. I am planning on fitting the leftmost vacuum source, post throttle body into a T, where I have my boost gauge and FPR plumbed. Would all that be alright? And Yes, my waste gate actuator, only has 1, fitting.

I can't remember the port mappings for the various year throttle bodies so I can't answer that. Figure out if P is on the turbo side of the TB and if so it could be used. I think doing this though will impact the ability to control boost, probably inducing a delay, but not really sure. The manual does stress the input should be as close to the compressor and as short as possible, and being a closed loop system I would imagine deviating isn't going to help boost control work well but it could at least hold you over until you get your ports installed.

Yep. I might as well wait until I get my SD bundle from ECMTuning, because ill need an IAT-bung, welded into the upper intercooler plumbing along with a couple barbs...
How was your Event TSiAWD666??? didn't you compete in some sort of auto cross??? your DSM makes me feel funny.. :) (in a good way)!!! :D

The event was overall good. I'll update the UTCC thread when I actually get some pics from someone (friends are dragging their butts on them). It was time trials on a race track, not autocross. Thanks!
