2G High rise wing repair

Picked up this high rise spoiler for 17 dollars on craigslist.

I've read posts on fiberglass repair but all the instructions go as putting the fiberglass sheet from the inside.

On this certain occation am I suppose to use something else or just put the fiberglass sheet over along with the resin?

I would just put some fiberglass filler in there and sand it down smooth, prime, then paint.

so with the filler no sheets are needed?

it seems to have other pressure cracks that im trying to prevent from expanding..


but im not sure if its just the paint thats cracking..

Should i sand everything down before adding the filler on the crack?

No that is on the seam of the two halves. It would crack again if its only filled. Its fixable but will take some work. I am not the best one to tell you how to fix it.

1. sand and clean area
2. "V" out the crack, and any spider cracks along the way ( with a dremel)
3. Using FG resin fill any minor cracks, if the crack is substantial use chopped glass as a filler
4. to bond two halve together, Rough up the inside of the crack, apply resin, then clamp it together.
5. after bonding halves, rough up the repair, and wrap with 1 layer of FG cloth
6. sand all repair work
7. Primer, and paint

Using filler, bondo, bondo glass etc to repair a crack is just asking to do the job twice, except now it's contaminated.

Basically grinding out the crack and leaving a V-shaped crevice. It lets you completely fill and reinforce the cracked area rather than just filling the top of the crack (which will fail over time).
