high idle when cold

when i remove the emissions i came across high idleing when car is cold, like 2500 rpm. after it warms up its fine. just wondering why?

Ive never heard of the idle being that high. The motor adds more gas when first starting up to help it warm up quickly.

when i start mine its around 2300 for a minute or so then comes down to 1500 until it warms up

your idle air screw may have "blown" itself out a bit, I would check to see if its loose.
It is right on the throtlebody facing you in about a 3/8" hole.

More information on this... There are some vacuum lines that go to an FIAV(I hope thats the right abreviation) that has a wax pellet in it that moves when the coolant heats up to a certain temp to lower the idle back down.

That's typically normal until the ECT senses the coolant is the correct operating temperature. What emissions components did you remove?

If your FIAV is still connected, then a high idle when extremely cold is standard operating procedure. If it doesn't return to normal rpm range (750-900 or so) within a few minutes of warming up, then there is an issue.
