The car used to run fine (for about 2-3 months) recently, when i'd go to warm the car up it will hover at around 2000 rpms. when it warms up, it will go from 2000 to 1500rpm; back up and down for a short time, then idle normal at around 900 rpm for around 10 seconds, and then the idle will jump up and down again in a never ending cycle.

im running link v3 with speed density. i BELIEVE my iac is broken, but ive been simulating the iac through the tps... and even so i have the "enable idle switch" on, so the car knows its at idle... anything else i could be missing?? thanx guys

No need for a log.

First off you cannot simulate the ICS through the TPS. You simulate the idle switch if yours is broken. You have what is called idle surge and it would be smart of you to test your ICS for proper function.

Both of these are located on the Vfaq

Idle Surge FAQ

There is an easy way to test to see if your ISC is working. Just unbolt it from the throttle body (2, 10mm bolts), leave it plugged into the wiring harness, have a friend (or anyone really) turn the key to the "ON" position and back off a few times. (Thanks Nate :p)

wow--- guess i got the whole idle switch/control motor thing mixed up some how... i knew it was surge but assuming the "simulation" would have fixed it threw me off. i will check for its operation tomorrow during work.

thanx!! :)

Not trying to bring this up from the "sort of" dead, but is this resolved? If not, I had something similar happen to me so I wanted to share. I have a 2.3 stroker, balance shafts removed, and 264 cams with exhaust cam retarded 3 degrees. So, point being, it does have overlap at idle and vibrates a good bit. Well, my biss screw vibrated out! Haha, it was a rather odd thing because I had no idea. What is happening is that all the extra air is getting in there, allowing the engine to rev, but the ECU has logic programmed inside to perform a "Fuel Cut" if the idle is too much higher than the target idle, and cuts fuel, thus the surge. Hope that helps if you have not gotten this fixed!:thumb:
