I just got ECMlink V3 which is way better than my old V1 I had. :thumb:

I'm trying to get a good baseline dialed in so I can take the car to a shop for better tuning. I've been going through the ECMlink demo's and I'm still learning.

Everything seems to be running okay except I'm getting high EGT's while cruising. While in 4th with no boost at 3000 RPM's I'm hitting 1300 - 1400 degrees (F). Think I even saw 1500 at one point. My probe is a new Autometer taped in the O2 housing. Based on my wideband I'm not running lean. I even added more fuel and it doesn't help. I haven't started to really tune anything at WOT yet. I'm running 91 but plan on going to E85 after this tank.

I've read a lot that timing can cause high EGT's. Does anyone have a pointer on a good FAQ on tuning timing? I couldn't find anything online. Or does anyone have a good pointer on how I could correct this?

Some posts I've read said these temps are okay. They just seem high to me based on cruising with no boost. I'm only running 15 PSI at WOT on my GT35r since my motor is new.

Thank you[DOUBLEPOST=1407624530][/DOUBLEPOST]Here is a log I took just while driving.[DOUBLEPOST=1407637022][/DOUBLEPOST]Okay. Assuming my baseline timing is my issue, I found a video that shows how to do check baseline timing. http://www.yourepeat.com/watch/?v=Ng6llVYSq4w

I have a 1G CAS on my car so I think that should make it easier... Correct me if I'm wrong. I think I just adjust the CAS if I'm off?

Do any of you guys adjust the timing sliders in ECMlink? I saw one forum that said to advance the slide to 5 to help with EGT's. I don't trust myself to just start playing with timing not knowing what I'm doing.

That's really hot for a TOT reading under load, let alone for just cruising.

Low timing and/or running rich will give high EGTs. My WOT EGTs rarely get out of the 1400s pre-turbine, and usually a couple hundred degrees cooler post-turbine at the top of a gear.

I set my base timing with a timing gun yesterday. It was at 0 Degrees and I set it to the mark that is in between the T and 10, which should be 5 degrees BTDC.

I also went and got my first tank of e85. My temps seem to have gone done a little. I live in a mountain area and coming up the hill on my way home I was still pushing 1350-1400 while at less than 5psi and 30% throttle.

I still need to lean the car out a bit. I had some gas left so this tank is about 70% E85 which made it a little harder for me to calculate my fuel trim. But I was in closed loop when seeing these temps which makes me think my problem is timing related. I'm not seeing any knock which is good.

Do you think its okay if I advance my timing sliders a couple degrees to see if it helps?

Sorry I've not been on here as often lately, I would lock open loop and make a couple DA tables. Should qualify that I run E85. And it's very flat here, so cruising at 450-650F on the highway or in town is fairly common because the load is so low.

Wow. 450 - 650 is low. Thats more how my diesel pick-up runs.

I took my car to town the other day and cruising on "more" level ground I'm running like 1000-1100. I did a 2nd and 3rd gear pull today and my temps didn't exceed 1300. The strange thing is that cruising up the hill to my house causes warmer EGT's than doing a pull through a couple gears and getting into the boost. I guess it just causes more consistent load.

Tomorrow or Saturday, I'm going to get out and play with my tune. I'll try adding some more timing to see if it helps. I've been reading a lot about tuning and some say to be careful adding timing while running E85 since the car may not produce a lot of knock to tell you when to stop.
