i have a newly built 6-bolt with 2g pistons(bored 20 over).... ive got 210 - 215 compression across the board.... i had very little material removed when decking the block.... and the head was re-surfaced once....
i probably only have 300 - 400 miles on em.... is this about normal? should i expect these numbers to fall down in the future? should i look into a thicker headgasket?? or just run what i got

yea thats really high are you sure those are 2g pistons. The numbers should be lower the first 300-400 miles and gain a little higher by the end up breakin, not drop. Thats like 9:1 non turbo numbers there, 8.5:1 is around 180s. My advice is try another compression guage, and if its still high and its running good anyways just be happy for that and run with it.

As long as all 4 cylinders are reading consistant, you are good. No need to find another one if the numbers are too high. I'm running a 9:1 Wiseco setup, 210 across the board. My head has been milled a bit.

well ok then :thumb:

my compression gauge is a little odd.... its fairly new, but recently it doesnt zero out, it stops at about 30..... dunno if that has anything to do with it or not.... but if its 30 off.... that would put it where it 'should' be.... definately need to find another gauge to see whats up....

they are definately 2g pistons....

i just didnt figure it would be that high, even with the material that was removed...
the gauge used to work....
