Hestiating (?) feel when engaging 1st gear.

I'm gonna try to explain this as best as I can. The car is a 95 TSi AWD. Just had the transfer case recall performed, so I kinda ruled that out.

Basically, when I am in 1st gear, and go to let out the clutch to give the car gas to go, it feels almost like it is hesitating. And on hills, it's probably 100 times worse. It's almost a hesitant feel for the clutch to engage. It almost feels like something is preventing it from going at first. I almost want to rule out the clutch as it was replaced about 12k miles ago with a new stock unit. If anyone has any input, let me know. It's starting to become a drivability issue.

Thanks.

Sounds like slippage. Does it occur at other times? Check your bell housing bolts, and your hydrauics.

It happens mostly every time I disengage the clutch in first. If the flywheel wasn't resurfaced when the clutch was replaced (which I am unsure about as it was replaced before I bought the car), is this something that may cause it? I think I'm having a hard time describing it. It feels like the clutch is engaged fine, but it just doesn't want to fully disengage. So it feels jerky, almost like someone is holding it back, then letting go, then holding it again, then letting it go.

I will definately check the bolts and things of the sort though, bleed the clutch maybe, change tranny fluid, never a bad place to start.

Uhm.. I think I posted this already and it was deleted, or maybe it was my fault.. uhm Spark Plugs? Did you try checking those? I know how it feels when you have bad plugs and it feels exactly like you're describing, it's horrible.

It was deleted for its remarkably remote relationship to clutch behaviour.

No, it's definately not the plugs. They are brand new NGK BPR7ES' with Magnecor wires. It's only in first gear that it happens, and not if I'm on flat ground. I am just going to go ahead and bleed the clutch, change the tranny fluid, and do a SS clutch line. I think that may take care of some of it, even if it doesn't, what could it hurt?

Thank you for your input, however. :thumb:
