10's? ROFL Mods move this to the newbie/rookie section please.. This guy hasnt even ran 12's, let only 13's and he wants to build a motor for 10s!

the engine is shot i could run a faster quarter mile right now i just want to kno what are some good internals to use so i can get there in the 10s/11s

If you hafto ask what engine parts to buy, You won't be driving a 10sec. car imo. Close your other thread, You ask for engine internal's in this thread, And ask where to get a Jdm motor in the other, Make up your mind? You have a fwd too, Invest in some good slicks if you want to go that fast :tease:

It says your car has just an exhaust right now? You're going to need more then an exhaust and internals to run 10's. I think you need to learn more about your car before you just go picking a number in hopes of running it. When you get in the 13's then go to the 12's, And so on? Not going from an exhaust to a ''10'' second car.. :boring:

i just got a 91 TSI awd with a blone head gasket this is y i am wondering what to put in my motor cause it will already be apart. im not saying im gonna go run 10s my first time out i am just sayin 10s are my goal so will i need to put inside that way i dont have to buy build then have to rebuy and rebuild again. y do it twice when i can do it once

They are making fun of you because not many people waltz in here expecting to run 10's with a FWD car. You've got your work cut out for you. Not only will you need hella mods but you'll need to know how to tune and how to drive.

The Fast and the Furious was only a movie. Not the standard.

Oh boy....OK.....I see what you are trying to avoid and I get yer drift, BUT.....I don't know how many people on this board have even gone into the 10s but I suspect that number is limited. I've been in 10 sec cars but never a DSM. There is a huge difference between 10's and 12's. A HUGE difference. I think the ease of bolt-on power coupled with a dyno tune has warped some minds. I could never just bolt on one item and get my mustang or goat into the low 13's/high 12's just like that (OK maybe nitrous  ). But you can with a DSM. That being said I would suggest that you do some searches. NO, NO, I'm not taking the easy way out! It's just that there are so many choices to make. Each choice you make is predicated on your philosophy of what will get you there. When you choose one thing it will affect your choice on something else. 10 seconds is not just a bolt on recipe; "I take one of these and one of these and mix in two of these and I get 10 seconds." We have a couple of Jims on these boards who would probably back me up on this. You have to figure out a path and then follow that through. Yeah, bigger pistons, deck the head, bigger valves, make it flow; Oops I just upped the comp ratio, how do I fix that? What gas do I run now? Do I use MegaSquirt or some other stand alone or just a piggy back? Maybe I should stroke it? Do I think I should go high end or low end? How much will the stroke hurt my high end? Some say stroke's the word while others say no to stroke.......etc...etc... I hope you see what I mean. I'm not downin' ya, I am just saying that to get to the 10 second point will require a bit of thought along with your OWN philosophy of what will get you there.

self edit: I did not even get into driver skill.

ok even though you are completely trying to avoid this just build it so it runs right now. Then build it up later. Seriously plan out what you want to do. I mean right this stuff down find out what you can afford to. Its easy to run 10's if you have enough money but if your on a budget its alot different. Plus 10 seconds is fast. You ever gone that fast probably not. You might be very happy with a 12 second car. Anyway back on to my point. just build it so it runs right now. Get your plan set up and buy all the parts you want on your car. Then take it apart and put it all together it will be better because you have more time to think about it. Also more time to plan then if your in a hurry and want all the power right away. Because you want to drive your new car. :dsm:
