need help with rebuild!! :(

i didnt see any posts on this. my motor has been bored out .020 already, and it has gashes. so i need to go another .020 over bc they dont make pistons in .030 over that i can see. but the problem is i cant find .040 with out spending $500. i dont have that kinda money just for pistons. is there any other pistons i can use in place of mine for a .040 build??

Just save some money and buy a new short block.

That's probably the cheapest you are going to find. I still recommend just getting a new block.

i just spent mostly all my money on the car, there is no way i can afford a new block.

Not sure about where you live, but around here you can find shortblock pull outs for around $300. A friend of mine just got a recently rebuilt 6 bolt shortblock with Evo pistons for $350. Do that, toss your good head on top and go to town.

You could find a short block ready to go for the same price as those pistons. Plus you have a good block to build upon.

It depends on your block, really. If it only needs a hone and not be bored out, I would keep it.
