Help With Passing Emissions in Arizona?

Hey guys im going to be going through emission's tomorrow! Is there any advise that you guys could give me to help PASS!!!! Car is a 91 gsx all stock except free mod's!!

Thanxs man, Whats a good octane I should run?

91 is the highest they sell at local gas station's but I have about 5 gallon's of 101 octane witch one should i use?? Would just the 91 be fine?

Also I just went to autozone to get a PCV valve and I noticed that you can blow through both ends!! I was told that your not suppose to be able to blow through both ends! Is this true???

If your car is in decent shape, you should be fine.

-Drive it around for about a half hour before hitting the smog station.
-Replacing your PCV can be beneficial if it hasn't been for awhile.
-A good fuel additive can be your friend too.

91 octane or whatever the highest octane is in Arizona

Higher octane won't make your car run "cleaner". Unless your car is knocking, 91 is perfectly fine. And yes, you can blow through both ends...What I believe you're referring to are crank vents (which are one-directionial).

Hey guys last year i took the car down and it failed on the first try but then passed on the 2nd. I just went to take my car down to emissions today and i failed!! My Carbon monoxide and Hydrocarbons were both to high. Here in AZ these are the only 2 they test for.

Im afraid i wont pass with all my mods.

Help me out guys what do you think i should do??

Did you go to the DMV with the awd rollers??? Avoid that one and all they will do is the idle test and pressurize the gas tank.

Is your cat in good condition?

No i went to the one on greenfield they just did the idle and rev it up to like 2500 rpms. Im thinking i was running way to rich so i tuned my Low fuel trim to 139% so i hope thats lean enough for them . My cat is also good.

Im going back down there tomorrow morning around 10 and hopefully ill pass this time!

I also retarded my timing a little bit to see if that helps.

Update: Well i went back this morning and i did better i passed the (CO) carbon monoxide but i still failed the Hydrocarbons! The limit is 220 and i blew a 324.

I think i may have leaned it out to much causing it to misfire a bit. My fuel trim was maxed out at 139.

What do you guys think i should do try and richen it up a little bit then go back again for the 3RD time!

Update: Well i went back this smorning and i did better i passed the (CO) carbon momoxide but i still failed the Hydrocarbons! The limit is 220 and i blew a 324.

get 2 bottles of HEET and dump them in your tank and drive you car in high RPM for a little bit on the highway then go. get that cat nice and hot and the HEET will keep it burning clean. the first time i went with no cat on my car I quadrupled the legal limit after i put a cat on and that HEET stuff i almost got it to 0 on everything it was amazing my car went from being the worst thing for the environment to the best thing

Do you have E 85 in AZ? If so make sure to put 50- 50 gas and you will pass for sure. If not get a bottle of Sea Foam, and run it through your vac lines.

Were can i get this HEET stuff at?

We do have a couple stations out here that have E85. I have heard of the E85 fuel but dont know much about it. Can you fill me in on a little more info about it?

E85 just burns really clean, 50 50 wont hurt you, just make you go a little lean.

Is It possible I may have been running too lean? Because I was running extremely lean which was causing it to have a slight misfire.
