Okay. So I decided it would be a good idea to use Grey PVC for intercooler piping. It fits great and lowered intake temps by about 8 degrees on the data log but even under normal boost from the T25 it keeps blowing the piping loose from the couplers. Ive tried tightening them down with an 8mm socket etc. Any ideas on how to get the rubber couplers to grip the PVC? I thought about pipe dope but im getting irritated.Somebody throw some good ideas out there.

try to sand the pvc pipe where the couplers connect with 80 grit sandpaper. get some deep scuffs around the pipe and the couplers should bite into the grooves and hold it there. by the way, im pretty sure there is some type of slick coating on pvc pipe as well. hope this helps you out.

I take it you have no lip on the cut piping?

If so, and while I'm not sure it would adhere to the PVC I've used jb weld in the past when I had no beads on my metal i/c pipes. What I did was create a circular trough around the ends of the piping using duct tape. I would just layer up the tape to build it up on both on both sides of the intended ring bead and then put the jb weld in the created trough. Worked for a few months while I had it (I had some beads made in the piping later on).

I bought the gray. Its made to not carry static charge for running electrical. Its not coated its more of a dull satin finish. And I painted it. I think maybe the ACE couplers I bought are an issue. Im going to wash them good they seem to be oozing grease when they warm up LOL Ill try the sandpaper

I moved the clamps closer to the end of the coupler. There is only a 1/4in lip on the coupler and the groove where the clamp sits is about and 1/8in from the edge. Since the PVC has no lip I think this might fix to prob. Im mainly concerned bc im working on putting a 14b on and running more boost.. IF these damn pipes will stop blowing off LOL

oh ok i see. silicone couplers should stick to that very well. you could try the sand paper to give the couplers somethin more to hold onto. or the other idea someone threw out there and build up a type of flange on the pipe with tape or jb weld so that when the coupler is clamped on the pipe it will not be able to come off.

I just doubled the clamps. I used PVC because its inexpensive and somebody either a dog or a person ran off with my intercooler piping and BOV flange. Luckily the BOV wasnt attached :)

I added an extra clamp to the two areas where it was blowing off so far today no blow outs. And im doing this as a temp fix because Im about to install a 14b and then a FMIC once the 14b is running well
