Can anyone help me? I searched and found no help anywhere on the net. I have a mechanic trying to place/installed my rear tow hook. Would like to have it in the center like these Acuras. I enclosed a pic of the hooks. He already installed the front. Where can we connect it? And please guys, I already received a pm that has nothing to do with my question. I just need help. Thank you.

My best guess as we dont have much down there is to add a plate from the rear bumper support then bolt it to that! I still dont know why our cars never came with tow hooks as I thought it was a legal requirement to have them from the factory for safety reasons

Do you actually want to be able to use it for its intended purpose? Or is it just for looks?

Im not going to debate you on if you need it, or if it looks stupid. However, I feel the need to ask what you are going to be using it for, if at all. Placing it may end up being key to you not having your car destroyed.

I remember a few 2g guys saying their bumpers were actually damaged because of the angle. I don't know how or where they mounted it but it's something to keep in mind.

If it's just for looks it may end up not being worth the hassle.

This will be my daily driver. If I ever get ballsy and plan to take it to a track, it may be once or twice a year if that. So, I would say it's probably going to be for the looks for now. In the next 1-2 years I would like to install a turbo kit/engine internals, and if lucky, get in on any future Koni susp group buy. But, I have to say...I watched my car get flat-bedded to have my clutch master and slave replaced, and the driver & I had our fingers crossed the entire time. LOL.

Alex 509-727-6433, he's a regular face at KaizenSpeed and works for Rod at Rods cars. This guy is my best friend and would go out of his way to help any one. Call alex and tell him Tristen sent ya, I promise he'll get ya taken care of. He's on here as drivenbyboost.

So I spoke to Alex and he said that on our cars the bumper reinforcement/support? sits higher than what we want. that would require cutting into the rear bumper. Which is probably what I am not looking for. He suggested that I go through the spare tire compartment and install a plate, drill two holes threw and bolt the tow hook on the other side. I just text him pics of the hook.

Hope you figure it out, but IMHO, and I know its not my room to say, our cars aren't honduh's and shouldn't be molested by the jdm fan-boy scene. Just my .02, hope the turbo build goes as planned.

Thank you Tristen. I appreciate the help man. Does anyone have any pics from any old builds of the rear under carriage/bumper assembly? My car is at his place so I don't have access to it.

I have looked online at google photos...and I have not found one image of a tow hook on the rear of a 2G DSM.

And for good reason.

I actually have a trailer hitch installed on my 2g gst. The guy that owned the car before me had it installed for some reason but i used it to tow a Uhaul trailer across country. I'll try to get under there and take pics for you tomorrow afternoon to see how it's attached. It's not technically a hook but it might help. Let me know if you think it will help since i will actually have to figure out how to upload pictures to this site. :)

All pics def help and also help the community. And not to be a wise ass to other posters, I like the help and the comments that some of you are making. But to tell you the truth, I did put this in the appearance thread. I really like the look of the tow hook, and if there is some functionality that comes with it than that is extra icing on the cake. :D Just trying hard not to have to cut into my rear end...LOL

If you really want to put the tow hook on JUST FOR LOOKS i would say run a metal plate in from the bottom and take the tow hook to a metal shop to get it bent on an angle to fit the metal and get the HONDA angle your looking for. Honestly I think its more trouble than whats its worth especially if your having a mechanic do it but your car not mine.

verbalcat....i was busy all day today but tomorrow is Sat and i have all day to waste. I'll get under there and take those pics of the trailer hitch tomorrow afternoon. Just wanted you to know i didn't blow it off.
