I have a 91 eagle talon tsi. alternator went bad so i changed it and put a new belt on. it squelled really loud when I started it and I could smell rubber and was like wtf and then the belt snapped? Does anybody have like a walkthrough on replacing an alternator just to make sure everything is on right? thanks

It should mount to the block and that will be the pivot point. Then the adjustment bolt attaches to the bracket. You should be able to adjust it so that it wont squeal. Hope this helps a little for the time being.

Sounds like you overtensioned it pretty good. A service manual will tell you the correct way to tension the belt. I'll see if I can find it and attach it for you.

Here, the attached file, you'll have to Stretch and skew it about 200% of what it is to read it, sorry...

Im going to replace the tensioner. anybody have a walkthrough on tensioning it properly so I dont do it wrong?

My alternator belt was squeeling pretty bad on startup, but it would stop after a minute. I tightened the belt up and now it's fine.
