Ok guys i got a fully built crower head from a local dsm guy. The heads a full out built crower with crower titanium retainers,Bronze guides, crower springs, and i believe crower valves. The head has been used so i wanted to remove all the valves and make sure there all seated correctly and install new valve seals.

When i removed the springs and retainers i tried to slide out the valves and for some reason all the valves are extremely hard to remove. They all dont slide up and down in the guides that easlier like stock valvetrain does! Is this cause there aftermarket valves with bronze giudes?

Is this common or am i missing something here. Heres a pic of what 1 of the valves look like for some reason.

IS this valve still usable or no? Whats this caused from?

Burned valve. I walked by your head about 25 times at the machine shop. I should have at least taken a look at it. If it has problems like that, i would pull the springs and retainers out of it, and put them in a good stock head, at the proper installed height.

Dam thats just what i was thinkin. I just got done pulling all the springs and retainers from this head. So ill be ok to just go ahead and installing the springs and retainers into my good head i pulled from my running motor witch has the bc 272s?? Not really sure what you mean at the proper installed hight.

You need to measure the distance from the spring seat to the bottom of the retainer with the valve fully seated. Don't quote me, but i believe for your springs it should be 1.550". This is the length the spring is compressed to with the valve closed. I would also at least hand lap the valves.
