As I was just drving to my friends house the car was kind of bucking and trying to stop and there was a tapping and knocking sound. I pulled into his neighborhood and about 4 houses away from his the wheels locked up and the car just came to a stop. I think its the brakes cause I need them badly, maby a caliper locked up?

Its actually my car I was just accidently logged in as my friend before.

We just had the car up and the front and rear wheels were spinning so its def. not the brakes. I think it might be the transfer case or the center dif. like you said, but im leaning more towards the transfer case. The car will not roll at all!

Someone help what do you think?

Damn my buddy doesnt have a jack at his house:mad: So I cant check that right now. Its gonna have to wait till I can get a jack or till I get back to my house. Either way I got to get it towed back down to Cape may. Thank god I just got AAA. hahaha

If the transfer case IS locked, you may want to take some earplugs. The tow operator will be swearing up a storm as he drags your car onto the truck with all 4 wheels sliding....and getting the car off the truck will be even MORE fun!

Its the t-case! My car did the same thing. Car locked up on me, but when I jacked it up all the wheels spun. I listened to the t-case and it was locked. Bits and pieces fell out when I unscrewed the drian plug. I pulled it off and and took the car for a spin around the block to see if the trans was shot, thank God it was still alright.

Do yourself a favor before you have it towed. Grab a jack and remove the drive shaft. If the t-case/center diff is locked up, the front wheel should turn (as you said).

yeah indeed its a t-case problem. My buddies vr4 had the same problem. His car locked up on the freeway. He was shocked to be stopped all of a sudden without him pressing on the brakes. we found a new t-case replaced it with the old one and problem fixed!

its cool now finnaly the tow truck just came and got it. he put wheel dollies on the rear wheels and put it up my friends car is now on its way back home

Yeah I just got the car here at my house. My avatar is them towing it today, you can see the wheel dollies. They put soapy water on the rear wheels and flat bed to pull it up and to get it off he did the soap again and kept shifting the flat bed back and forth and making the car slide. haha

The front wheels spin no problem when the cars on the ground. The rears are locked up and dont move. Im gonna jack it up tomorrow and check everything out.

Someone has a transfer case on here right now with trans for $100 picked up. Hopefully its not already sold.

Well I talked to Alex at Dog Box Racing and I will just be bringing them my old one and picking up one from them.
