help replaceing acc. belt

hey guys ive got a 93 laser nt, and i just lost my accessory belt the tonight in a storm. Im sort of a noob when it comes to the real mechanical stuff (i know led and hid stuff).

So my belt came off after going through a puddle, and it had been very squeaky for the past few days, problem is im not really sure what i have to loosen to put it on, i read a few searched threads but couldnt find how to do it in a 1g.

please let me know, i deliver pizza in this car and i work at 10am tomorrow so i gotta fix this asap,

what belt was it alternator? power steering? a/c?

well not sure how to tell right now the cars burried under snow, but i lost power steering and the battery light came on, also some orange light, that looks like the top of a tower or something like that ive never seen it before.

also the cars making a loud clunking noise as soon as the belt came off, sounded like a loud bearing noise or something but it just started when the belt slipped off going through a puddle.

do you have the 1.8 or the 2.0 non turbo engine

And are you sure it is only the acc belts. Is your car still running.

car is a 2.0 NT,

car still runs fine now, but i wont keep it running because the battery light is on so its probably gunna kill the battery, I can see that the belt is off the alternator, and the pulley above the alternator still has the belt on, that is the power steering right?

now since the pulleys steering belt is still on why did i lose power steering?

hey rlaclasse just searched and found a post of yours that should help me out alot:

''As long as it is the same as a 1g then this is what you need to do.

For the belt on the alternator you need to loosen up the bolts that hold the alternator on the bracket (that way it can swivel). Then there will be a tensioner bolt on the end of the alternator bracket. It faces the front of the car and is angled slightly downward. Turn it to the left and the alternator will begin to move towards the engine and the belt will loosen.

For the belt on the a/c: If you look right behind the motor mound you will see one little pully that is pulling the a/c belt up towards the hood of the car. You need to loosed the 14mm (i think) bolt in the center of the pulley so it will be able to slide. Then on top of the bracket the pulley is on you will see another bolt (tensioner bolt). Turn it to the left and the pulley will begin to slide downward, which will loosen the belt. And wa-bam...... The belts will come off. ''

you wouldnt by chance have a picture of the bolt your talking about? i just want to make sure i have the right one, there is a bolt downward facing on the front of the alernator, i loosed the right side of it but it seems like its not connected to anything, what cold be my problem here?

1. loosen the top bolt on the alternator that the green arrow is pointing to first. just loosen it so you can back it out with your fingers, don't take it out all the way!
2. now back out the LONG bolt that goes through the bolt housing of the bolt you just loosened. (in the picture there is no arrow pointing to this bolt) once its loose enough to lift UP over the bracket its tighted down on then you can pivot the alternator.
3. pivot the alternator UP and slide the belt around the pulleys.
4. now push that BIG long bolt (from step 2.) around the front the bracket it was slide in front of and tighten it up. (this is what puts tension on your alternator belt) get this thing fairly tight.
5. now tighten up the bolt that secures the tension bolt (from step 1.)
6. start the car, if the belt squeals at all loosen bolt from step 1. and tighten down the long tensioner bolt from step 2. (repeat as necessary until the squealing stops)
