I have a brand new fuel pump and the car still will not start. The pump spins when you turn over the engine, but does not prime when I first turn on the key.

All fuses are good, and I do not know how the wiring system for the pump is, nor the location of the priming relay, etc. Any suggestions? Im at a loss.

Come on guys. Someone here has to know how to check the injectors, relay, etc...

Can anyone tell me why the pump will spin when I crank the engine, but not prime? My guess is that the prime, and injectors are on the same ciruit and a relay is bad. Can anyone tell me where it is? I mean, when the fuse box under the hood doesnt have ANYTHING marked as MFI or Fuel Injector, or Pump, how are you supposed to know which it is?

My Camaro was much easier to diagnose, Im needing help here from the pros.

I hope so. The Chiltons SHOWS the relay on the wiring diagram, but does not show nor tell me a location.

Still there??? The injectors. Take the connector off, then check resistance across the two spades sticking out. You should get 2-3 Ohms. One wire to the connector comes from the ECU, the other wires comes from the Ignition Supressor Resistor....WHAT!!!??? Yes. I had to research it because my 1 & 2 injectors are not shooting fuel for crap. I replaced the resistor (its behing the intake manifold screwed into the firewall. You have to look down a bit. Its a silver rectangled box the size of a stick of butter...mmmm), but it didn't help me much. Actually my car ran fine after that for about 20 minutes, then took a dump again. Upstream from the resistor is the MFI relay. I'm gonna check into that now. The ecu is good cause i replaced it temporarily with a known working one and got the same result. Im wondering about a bad injector that may read good Ohms. Im gonna also swap injectors and see what happens......

i love :dsm:

Uhh, the ecu won't turn on the fuel pump unless it gets feedback from the cam sensor on a 1g. Hence, it doesn't even start to go until you crank the engine. It's a safety feature.

when mine wouldn't start it was the CAS plug one wire was loose and everytime you push on it the car would die. I squeezed the little pins inside the plug and now she's good. just throwin that out there. Hello?

So dsms dont pressurize the fuel system before crank!?!? How is that a safety measure? Doesnt that just prolong the crank time (the worst wear an engine sees)? I have done no research of this issue strictly on dsms but I have had classes soley based on Fuel Injection and turns out every other FI system does pressurize the fuel rail before crank (I watched it:) ). This does explain my absence of FP before crank but it just seems odd that it would be intentional from factory. I thought I had a faulty fuel return (one-way) valve.
