ok last night i took my car out to the track and was running fine then i did another run and boosted a little higher than usuall and all the sudden my pedal had nothing all the power was mostly gone. i took her home and found out my plugs were bad so i changed them and it helped i got alot of my power back but in every gear between 500-about3k rpms it shakes and sputteres like crazy gives me a headache i did a boost leak test and its all fine i still boost like usuall i drove it more today and died a couple of times so i thought maybe the fuel system? so i got a fuel filter, it seemed to help a little but still does it any help would greatly be appreciated :dsm:

This may seem overly simple, but check your MAS airflow sensor. A few times that happened to me, it was because the connector got a little loose. It didn't look like it, but when I nudged it in, it clicked back into place.

the plug wires are a little old but i watched them all spark just fine it could still be this i guess the mas however is plugged in i even changed it because i thought the other one might be bad

also i talk to a buddy of mine he said it was prolly the timing but i checked in to that to and the marked lined up perfectly th only thing is maybe the crank is off? if si would that caz it i dont think so but he does. could it be the fuel presure regulator or the fuel pump?
i thought when a fuel pump went bad it just stopped but i could be wron g
also thanks alot for ur quik as all hell responces greatly appreciated :D

What was wrong with the plugs. Did they have cracked insulators or bent electrodes?
If they were damaged from detonation you may have other problems now that plugs and wires aren't going to fix.

Have you checked the compression today?

Steve

i dont have a compression tester so i cant really do that but im checkin into it i changed the plug wires it didnot help i think its getting better but im not so sure i dont have any idea where to go from here helpl

ok got a hold of a compression tester and 3 are good compression and 1 has low compression maybe carp deposits on a valve? im gonna stick some sea foam in there and see what happens any other ideas would be great!

Still waiting to hear what shape the bad plugs were in.

Steve

the plug were cheep plugs to begin with, autolite copper cores but they werent in all that bad of shape the tips were lose some white on them but thats about it they werent crakedc or anything

check some of you vacume lines. the vac line to my fuel pressure regulator came off, and did the same thing you are describing. so look around in the bay and see if anything poped off.

i checked all of of the vacumm lines and i couldnt find any that came off maybe im not looking hard enough ill check again the sea foam i put in didnt seem to help any i still shake and sputter untill i hit about 2500 rpm after that its runs great its almost like hot spots on the pressure plate nut i know that it not becaz it does this in neatral is it possible for the fuel pump to do this i been told a number of things from bent valves to the tioming to the fuel pump i haveno idea

ok i rechecked all vaccums and found nothing still i was told i prolly bent a valve some how so i decided to rip off my exaust and intake manifold but guess what nothign in fact it all looks brand neww so once agian stumped i havent looked at the pistons yet im trying to stay away from taking the head off but my guess is that they are fine could a head gasket cause my problem i dont smoke really unless im under high boost getting really flustered oweel there gotta be some one whos had this problem before

ok for any of those that care since not really anyone seems to be reading this thread i figured out the problem i ended up having to take off the head and found out i did have a cracked valve which suks buut is fix able yey ROFL any 1 have a clue on what is necessay to set the timing i hae never done it on a dohc gonna go get the valve today and try putting her back togerther anything else i might need to know would be great tooo :D

That's pretty much what I expected. Either a burned or cracked valve.

You'll need to have the valve seat looked at before trying to drop a new valve in and have the two machined to match.

Read the timing belt VFAQ untill you understand each step. If you follow it you'll get the belt on right.

Steve

ok i got all that work done and everything is back together now and runs but i have a new problem i have a very crappy idle my vaccum is low but thats about it i cant find any vaccum leaks any where no cel the timing looked good i am once again stumped  any advice is good LOL! :D
