Ok long story short I got a new motor. Mechanic put it in and fired it up, viola its working at idle. he revs it a lil and it cuts off. Now it wont start at all. PLEASE HELP ME I dumped close to 5k into this car to get it back running, Please lemme know your thoughts on this. They think it isnt getting fuel but we ran it at idle for 5-10min and it was fine. PLEASE HELP!!!! :cry:
 
i had the same problem when i rebuilt my engine and it turned out to be one my coils and also the cam angle sensor was baddddd
 
Dude, don't even worry about it, tell the guy that just did the engine in it that it is his problem.

Is he a real wrencher, you said he THINKS it is not getting fuel, I mean it is not hard to tell for sure you know. If you paid him, tell him to fix it, if not don't pay untill it is fixed.
 
Lots of things contribute to the engine not staying running. First, you took it to a mechanic, gotta learn how to fix the mighty DSM, or at least know mostly what goes into fixing and maintaining a DSM. I put my engine back in my car one day and it fired right up, no real issues to speak of. Check all, I mean, ALL connections, clamps, couplings, coolant temp sensor, MAS everything. The car wont run well with things rigged up. Oh...i did have an almost dead battery that made my car act funny and just shut off. Did you try a fresh charged battery? It helps out sometimes.

Vaccum leaks
Loose wires, connections, sensors
 
Why even stress too much over it? if you paid a mechanic to do the work leave it up to him to fix the problem. after all that is what you paid him to do right? alot of times i will be present when my mechanic works on my car jus so i can learn things and get a feel for what to do on my own. let us know the outcome though bro...good luck!
 
Im there everday after school wtaching him, he is actually very good at engine swapping. he paid attention to fine details.They think it might be a vaccum line maybe. I was just upset becaust it took them 2 weeks to do it now its still not done. and i had my heart set on driving it yesterday after it started up and idled.... :cry: hopefully they get it started today. I trust him but i was just wondering if you could gicve me somethings to address with him to check. Right now it has:
-NEW complete engine (head/block)
-NEW Stock Clutch(resurfaced flywheel)
-NEW Battery
-NEW wires and plugs
-USED T25 frm a fellow DSM( very lil shaft if any)

ALL help is appreciated, its been down for 7 months so you know how important it is for me to get it running.

we replaced the coil pack but the 1st and 2nd cylinders still get no spark, could this be a sensor?

You replaced a coil or the coil(S)? Also, check the power transistor, if they are old, they're usually far out of spec from what the book says it should be. Check all your fuses too. You have a 2g, i have a 1g, so i cant tell you the more tricky stuff to check. :talon:
 
thanks we got a new transistor and CAS coming tommarow. Im praying thats what is wrong. Otherwise im lost. :|
 
if its not the coil, im guessing its the transistor, i had to replace mine too in order for it to get it to start, gooood luck!
 
I thought you said he thinks it's not getting fuel? I take it that he confirmed you're not getting spark.
