Help! No 2cd and 4th gear. Linkage?

I was driving the other nite and my shifter got real tight and it got hard to find neutral. Then I noticed that when I pulled it back where second should be I got nothing and same with forth. I drove home on 1,3,5 and reverse still worked. When I was stopped sitting at idle I could push it to where second should be without the clutch in and herd no grinding or anything. Today I went out and I seemed to be able to get it into all the gears on the trans where the linkage attaches. The trans has less then 1k miles on it with new everything in it from tre. I was thinking it was the linkage but I want to know what you guys think. Thanks

I pulled the linkage and i ripped the boot to see what the cable looked like and one stand had ripped and unwound itself and was rubbin bad so Im putting new linkage in.
