Alright guys i need your help, my car's been broke for a little over a month now. I thought it was the ECU but i swapped my ECU out for one out the EXACT same car and nothing changed. My car has litterally like 50 hp. and 20FT. lbs. torque i mean this thing is sooooo slow, and it eats gas like it gets 4 miles to the gallon max. Anyway, back when it was running i was on my way hme before it happened and as i stepped on the gas, the boost would go up but the mph and rpm's would stay the same and the car was just acting really really weird, well i stop my car and the next day i had the same problem and then i started up my car to take it up to sac. raceway one day and it started running like crap, like REAL crap and that is where it began now this guy at a shop who looked at my car said it was the ECU and that cylinders 1 and 4 were missfiring and that was my problem, well no that wasn't it. after putting the new ECU in and seeing that had no effect, the guy who owned the "donor" car said i might be leaking compression and so he puleed one-by-one the plugs out of 1,2, and 3 and it kept almost dying, then when he pulled the plug out of cylinder 4 it stayed the same but sparks flew everywhere, he said i might have a bad ring or something. Well i need some help guys, give me any and all of your idea's, suggestions, or websites etc . . .i want to be back on the road repp'n Cowteezy to the fullest! . . .so help me out guys. Thanx.

we did a compression check and the compression read as follows:
Clyinder 1: 150
Cylinder 2: 135
Cylinder 3: 120
Cylinder 4: 110

So obviously there is a problem . . .

Well, your compression is obviously on a low side, however, I've worked on cars with lower compression that ran smooth.

Does the car smoke?

If you're getting spark in cyl. 4, then you may not be getting fuel.

Another possibility is CAS. Since you said the boost would go up but car is sluggish, then it's def. a timing problem (retarded way to far). If could, of course, be due to knock (phantom or mechanical most likely), but dead CAS may have had something to do with it. Since it's easy to replace, start with that.

Have you logged it?
If not, connect the logger and disable #4 injector. See if it makes any difference.

I treid logging it, but the data port won't work.

If you have determined 100% that the porblem is in the dataport, and not with a logger/cable, then inspect your wire harnes carefully. It may have gotten cut/jammed/damaged etc. Normally I would point you to an ECU problem right away, but since you said you've tried replacing it, then harnes is gotta be the problem here.

Alright thanx, i had this guy work on my car before, and fix alot of problems, but only thing is that he took out alot of censors so now i don't know where they go. Is there anywhere that i can see a diagram or picture or somehting to see wher there should be censors so i can plug them in? Thanx.

If you're getting 4mpg, doesn't sound like you're not getting enough fuel. I'd make sure the spark plug wires and coil pack are fine before bothering with anything else. I had a car that would take 1/2 a mile to get up to 45mph, where it maxed out. Bad spark plug wires. No kidding.

And then I'd do a boost leak test. Who knows, you might just be missing half of your intake manifold gasket. Doubt it, but do the cheap things first.

My brother's Talon blew a hole in a valve out of nowhere on the highway. Ran like crap then, of course. A compression test would have picked that up, though.

Why did the guy take out a lot of your sensors. This sounds odd.

Well, the guy took off the censors for a # of reasons, 1 being "oh you don't need this" and another cuz of diff. things like how i had idle surge so we took off a censor (don't remember which one exactly, it was close to the throttle body though) and turned down the idle a little bit and called it a day, i mean it worked so we left it, but this was a long time before my car broke.
